Summary: another reader
Review: The brain evolved partly to be a pattern recognizer. Eidetic imagery experiments have shown that the mind will find patterns where there is none (i.e. random noise). This book is yet another example of the human imagination's infinite power to self-deceive.

Summary: This book isn't just fraud, it's blasphemy!
Review: This book is a nothing but a complete hoax. All the same prophecys can be found in any other book of the same size! just read the "moby dick code". Why should any god-fearing christian believe this drivel?

Summary: Silly Conjecture...
Review: How can you say that there is a bible code when it gets things wrong? Drosnin says Netanyahu would get assinated while still in office. the fact that "Benny" is still alive and kicking should be your first clue that this is not the word of God. What did Jeremiah say? The true test of a prophet is if his words come to pass. Drosnin's did not so there you have it!

Summary: Enthralling topic, good book
Review: I thought the information, the stories, and the investigation of the code was amazing. The book however got very repetative. At first I couldn't put the book down, but I found myself stuggling to finish the last couple of chapters because they talked about the same thing over and over again. Also I think it would have been better if the author would have explained the actual code mathmatically so we could have a better understanding of the enormus complexity of this phenomenon. Othe than that I thought it was a great book.

Summary: Absolute Crock
Review: Consider the following: The way the Bible Code works is by treating all the letters in a Hebrew book of the Bible as a giant acrostic. The computer scans the text, skipping every other letter to try to find words in close proximity that are key words to a major event, such as "JFK Assassin Texas" (using the modern Hebrew equivalent for these words). If it finds a string that describes the essence of a major event, then it has predicted the future.

Here are the catches and the reason the Bible Code is a farce: 1) The decoders improve their odds of finding something that appears significant by listing as many keywords for an event as they can think of. The computer only needs to find two or three out of the list. 2) If the computer doesn't find two or three key words for an event, it moves to skipping to every third letter, then every fourth and so on up to skipping to every hundredth letter or every five hundredth (whatever it takes to find the desired words). 3) If that still doesn't yield anything, the computer goes through the whole process all over again, beginning at the second letter of the book being scanned; and if that doesn't yield a few of the significant words, it starts skipping from the the third letter of the book, and so on. 4) If that still doesn't yield a few words from their list describing an historic event, they simply begin the whole process all over with the next book of the Bible. 5) The Hebrew Bible uses only consonants; therefore, B-R-D (to use an English example) could be BIRD or BOARD or BORED or BROAD or BRIDE or BEARD or BREAD or BRED or BARED or BREED or ABROAD or ABOARD. You get the point. In other words it's like playing jeopardy with all the vowels free and you can put them anywhere you need them.

With thens of thousands of consonants in a single book of the Bible and so many words possible from just a few consonants plus hundreds of ways of skipping through the letters and several books to try it in, the truth is that it is NOT unlikely that the decoders would find significant words in close proximity describing an event. The truth is that it is nearly inconceivable that they would be unable to find enough words in proximity to cryptically describe every event in history, no matter how small.

Finally, consider this: if the code were genuine, then omitting a single letter early in the text would obliterate the code because its all about placement of the letters. (All the letters that followed would slide forward one space.) Though the Hebrew manuscripts have been handed down with extraordinary accuracy, none of them agree with each other exactly to the letter. It's a crock.

Summary: Interesting but- - -
Review: I rated it a 2. I am not a Hebrew or Math scholar but there apparent Biblical inconsistencies with this book. I John 4:1 tells us to test the spirits to see if they are from God and since there are two forces (God and Satan), one using truth and the other deception, we need to be wise and discerning. Let us look at a few points. 1. If the code is genuine, God always does things for a divine purpose rather than just tickling our ears or showing off His power. God reveals truth to draw people to Him and not just issue information and it concerns me that the author (Drosnin) repeatedly claims to deny the existence of God. He calls it a superhuman intellegience and my question is, if God is the author, then Drosnin being close to the heat would be able to discern the source. If satan is working, he will always divert attention from God while disguising his identity. Strike 1. 2. In the scripture, the test for a true prophet is accuracy, if he is wrong, he was stoned because God is without error. I am concerned because misses on the accuracy of the code were explained away, none of which seemed satisfactory. If God is behind the code, He will be without error. If satan is, then it will have some truth and some justification. Strike 2. 3. There were predictions of an atomic event in 2000 or 2006. This could coincide with the Biblical Tribulation period with the end of recorded time however he then states that a comet will strike the earth ~2100. This would be in the 1000 year Millenial reign of Christ, a period of peace. I can't justify a comet creating catastrophic disaster during this time?? If God is in this, it would be consistent with His schedule. If satan, then confusion will exist. Strike 3. 4. Undoubtedly the greatest event in world history was the birth, death and resurrection of this man named Jesus the messiah. We even changed our calendar because of this! Why was there no mention of this historical happening? If God is in this, He would be confirming or dispelling this event. If satan is lurking behind the scenes, he will do everything possible to shift the focus away from the One who has been given the keys of life to mere men and their pursuits. Strike 4. I am not saying for certain the book is false, simply exercising my exhortation to test the spirits. Based upon my initial findings, I am quite concerned and suspicious. You should do the same.

Summary: Brilliant.
Review: Everyone should read this book, and understand the power at which we have at our hands. Everyone should know about the Bible Code.

Summary: The book is awesome
Review: The ideas contained in this book are probably enough to scare hard-core horror fans, because it's not fright, it's terrible realization about the extent of God's power, that even now we could probably not recreate anything like this even with all the computers in the world running together for a hundred years, God was able to organise his messages in this way when there were no computers, sorry I'm really bad with run-on sentences... at least I know when I am... oh well, get this book, it's awesome and it will convince you

Summary: Bible code is simplistic and ludicrous
Review: If enthusiasm could be used as documentation, then Drosnin's book would be rock-solid, air-tight. However, when seeking actual facts, the Bible Code fails miserably. Drosnin starts with the ridiculous assertion that there is a code hidden in the Pentateuch (although he subsequently goes on to search other books of the Bible). All major events of the western hemisphere are alleged to be encrypted in the Bible. Amazingly, nothing of African, Australian or far east Asian history appears. Either the Bible is only concerned with western history, or Drosnin is. Drosnin then takes his thesis from the ridiculous to the ludicrous by stating that perhaps God did not encode the Bible, but that advanced aliens might have. He continues his laughable book by stating that an earthquake was predicted for Japan. Has Drosnin ever heard of the Rim of Fire? Predicting an earthquake in Japan is tantamount to predicting snow for Alaska in the winter. The only thing more unbelievable than that someone actually wrote this book (and that I wasted my time reading it) is that people actually fall for this drivel.

Summary: Great entertainment for the credulous herd
Review: It doesn't take a Phd mathematician such as Brendan Mckay to notice the huge flaws in Drosnin's thesis (most of which he cynically neglects to mention never mind discuss). This sensationalistic, tabloid-esque drivel is a rubbish book for both science (which it is NOT) and philosophy. Just because Michael Drosnin has managed to find (using no firm rules whatsoever) LIBYA, ARTILLERYMEN and HOLOCAUST in the same 'area' in the Bible does not mean that Libya will attack Israel!!
