Review: This book changed my spiritual life, plain and simple. I've read dozens, if not hundreds, of inspirational and devotional books, and this one stands head and shoulders above the best. (Even better, in my opinion, than "Sacred Romance.") I was struggling with spiritual burnout and disillusionment, but this book re-awakened the hunger and re-instilled hope. For those who are questioning if there might be something more to the spiritual life, grab this book. It will refresh your spirit.

Review: This book is absolutely beautiful. It awakened my heart to a new and beautiful intimacy with God that, as the subtitle says, I had only dreamed of. For so much of my life, I lived in such a shallow little world, little knowing that I could experience the beauty of a true relationship with the passionate Pursuer of my soul. God is so deep, and so wide, and so wonderful, I cannot begin to explain it.

Review: This endeavor to define and explain the appetite of the human soul is remarkable. Eldredge describes elements of ourselves that we cannot normally even begin to utter. He challenges the reader to embrace the beauty and pains of life. Both of equal importance and value to development of our desires. If we "deaden ourselves to cynacism, then we deaden ourself to beauty as well." He shares that God is the only one who truly comprehends our desires, he is their author. He will allow us to experience them in His time, if we rush we will not share in the joy of their long-awaited arrival. This book is fanantastic instructional journey of how to find our true desires!

Review: This is an excellent book. I find such a thing only rarely: the book not only driven with a message and seeded with breathtaking insights, but that helps me see the God whose heart I search after, and who must be searching after me as well to put books like this, and those put out by the likes of C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, G.K. Chesterton (to name a few), before my eyes. The author of this book lives on the same earth as I do, and does not deny it but honestly gleans things worthy of discussion and examination from his surroundings. He treats heaven in a way that I have never heard, a way that makes me (for the first time) actually glimpse it as a place I'd like to go - it is the place I am ever trying to get to in this life and thought I could never arrive at, since there are so many flaws within and without. If you wish to see a new insight than the typical answers "religion" and those in power give - which only have left me feeling guilty and outcast - try this book. Give yourself the permission to try, as I am, and recover, discover the hope you meant to let die. Stop beating yourself up because you cannot stifle the cries of your deepest, heartiest longings, and begin to focus your eyes upon the point these yearnings tend toward - that indescribable glory that is God when we stop letting all the misguided interpretations or infiltrations of who he is cloud up the vision. Dare to dream, to conceive of Him outside the bounds of what you thought possible, and you may be filled with a joy and a thriving hope so poignant that you will actually be moved to want to share it, as I have.

This book is highly recommended for anyone who feels a little lost or just wants to live at a higher level.
