the believer.This book makes living in the Spirit very practical and gives
powerful illustrations about cultivating and harvesting grapes
from healthy vines in the lives of those who follow Jesus' vineyard principles. Important concepts like Planting, Pruning, Perseverence, and
Purity flesh out the secrets of the vine. When we realize our
Heavenly Father is the Gardener/Caretaker, Christ is the Vine
and we are but branches, we realize the Lord will flow the life
sap of the Spirit through us to produce abundant quality and
quantity fruit to His Glory as we remain in His Word.
Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it!
Do not be filled with spirits, but be being filled with the Spirit!

Summary: Better than Jabez
Review: "Secrets of the Vine" is the better sequel to "Prayer of Jabez." Although I found "Prayer of Jabez" very interesting and enjoyable, "Secrets of the Vine" was more applicable to my personal walk with Jesus. It shows the reader just how vital abiding in the Lord (John 15) is to our relationship with him. In JABEZ, the author shows us how the Lord blesses us, but in SECRETS OF THE VINE, the author shows us how we can choose to live the good life: the blessed life of abiding in the Lord. Every Christian who has a difficult time understanding the passage of John 15:5 should read this book. It's a great tool.

Summary: Well intentioned but sells selfish message
Review: I'm just afraid the author is exploiting readers' desire to be rewarded by faith, when faith is its own reward. A relationship with our God is so precious - even for those of us who (for reasons only he understands) are helpless and hurt. For this to be a bestseller tells me we are hungry for a message of gratification. At bottom we still want our works to be rewarded. If only we had the keys to our own salvation, to bring ourselves reward. Still it is only grace that saves us.

Summary: A Great Book on a Great Christian Teaching
Review: "Secrets of the Vine" offers a simple explanation to the teaching in John 15 that Jesus is the Vine, we are the branches, and as branches we should bare fruit. This is an important biblical concept, and Wilkenson explains it in such a manner that anyone can understand it. Wilkinson has a way with his examples that make his subject matter crystal clear. This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn more about this teaching.

Summary: Secrets of the Vine
Review: This is a life-changing book. I've listened to the audiobook probably 60 times since buying it. I've bought copies for other mature Christians who are going through desert/wilderness experiences or who have been pruned. The teaching in this book is not something you will hear from the pulpit. Joyce Meyer and John Kilpatrick are about the most visible other helpful sources (5 stars to them too). By the time you get the message of this book/tape into your Spirit, you will be so hopeful...no matter how bad the pruning has been. Just know that those the Lord uses to serve him WILL go through pruning, character-building, God-centering seasons. You will be left mostly alone so that you call on the Lord for your strength. Throughout my season I have slept with this tape and played it through the night. It's good.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: For those who need to examine their walk with the Lord on a deeper and personal level (that's all of us) this book concentrates the subject of remaining in the vine with authority. Often I find myself slipping from the vine, even when performing witnessing work, and I have to keep reminding myself to remain in the vine or the branch(me) will be cut off the vine and dry up. When I run out of steam I know I haved veered off course. Secrets of the Vine will help you understand what Jesus was talking about so you can be a more effective witness for the Lord. The book was easy to read and I do recommend the book. - James Russell, Author of the Christian devotional book, "Walking With The Lord."

Review: There are very few books that I pick up and read again. This is one of them. If you are new to the Christian Walk, or wondering why things are not going the way you want them to go, I would advise this book in restoring you back to Christ.

Review: If one wants to have an abundant life he or she only needs to read, practice and live out Secrets of the Vine. When you realized that the entire book is based on the last words Christ had with his disciples they bring new meaning and a fresh approach. This is must reading for every Christian that wants to live the abundant life graphed into Christ the branch!

Summary: Incredible Insight
Review: This is an incredible picture of God's goal for every Christian - to bear fruit. It's so easy to forget that this is the reason we are here. Mr. Wilkinson's very practical approach to what it feels like to be pruned and why it happens will really help those who may not understand what is going on in their lives right now. To say that this book is a complete explanation of all trials or suffering is a misrepresentation. The author does not try to explain all human suffering, just shed some light on a process that is very important to God. We must abide in the Vine and grow, it's what we were born for.
