Review: good for an idea of the interpretation of a few scholars, yet not quite true to form or straight forward translation. this edition seems just that, a personal interpretation rather than a straight translation of text. while the effort should be commended, the product thereof is lacking emphasis in the title that this is simply how one or a few translators interpret meaning. The Holy Qur'ân seems improper to me, as a muslim reader. perhaps An Interpretation of the Meaning of the Holy Qur'ân.

Summary: An Accurate Translation yet Faithful to the Original Tongue
Review: Grace and Peace upon whom who follow Guidance, As one who speaks Arabic, I umpire that this translation is faithful to the Original Tongue of the Quran, i.e. Classical Arabic Parlance of the Qureysh in which this Scripture was Divinely Revealed unto The Holy Prophet Muhammad. This translation is not bound by mere literal translation which would obscure the intend and implied meanings of the Holy Book but it is translated in accordance to the patois of Arabic. Translator has succeed to comprehend what the text conveys and succesfully translated several Quranic phrase and idioms which other translators have failed to perceive. It is an accurate and excellent translation which is faithful to the original meaning...without sectarian bias. I suggest this translation to all readers. Congratulation!

Summary: The Holy Qur'an
Review: I am not Muslim and I do not speak Arabic but I wanted to read The Guidance to learn more about Islam. I found this translation to be very easy to read although I do wish a version was available with the parenthesis removed. Where the translator has added explanative text he's placed it in parenthesis and nearly every verse has parenthetical phrases. It's gets in the way but I guess it is necessary to maintain the truth of the translation.This is a very nicely bound leather edition. If I had the choice I would have ordered it in green leather since that was Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) favorite color. But that is a petty nit and one that The Holy Prophet himself would probably have disdained since it smacks of worshiping him rather than Allah (swt). Summary: A Fair and Good Interperatation
Review: I deem that this translation is indeed a good interpretation of the Qur'an, which does not contradict the original arabic Qur'an, be it in wordings or literary devices. As all translations, there are minor mistakes which do not shake the integrity of the original arabic text, most of them are in choice of words. A practical interpretation. The author seems to employ all primary meanings of several terminologies.

Summary: BY FAR THE MOST ACCESSIBLE, READABLE AND HELPFUL
Review: I have read sections of several different translations and this is by far the most accurate, accessible, readable and helpful version I have found. I wish I could read it in Arabic but this translation is the next best thing. The commentary, notes and glossary are extremely helpful and interesting. In my very unlearned opinion, I think it is a work of remarkable scholarship and inspiration. It is just the sort of thing people in this country so desperately need to help understand and appreciate the beliefs of one-fifth of the world's population. I think this translation is a great service and I hope it is widely disseminated. I have an interest in the history of the great religious traditions but a praticular respect and afection for Islam. This beautiful version of the Quran was a real find for me and, again, I am very grateful to have come upon it. I will read and consult it often.

Summary: Full of errors
Review: I have read this translation from the Noor Foundation's web site. The translators took undue liberty in adding or deleting words in translation. Yes, the book is easy to read. But it is in no way a faithful translation of the Holy Quran. For those people who rely on a translation as a way to understand actual revealed words from Allah, beware of this translation! This book contains too many words which are not in the original Arabic. While reading this translation, use extreme caution to draw conclusions on any topic.
