Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Answer for the alphakid42 Review: I think this is a great book. I thought it answered quite a few questions for the non-scholar Christian in a clear, thoughtful, and engaging way. I find the utmost of intellectual arrogance in a person who would submit a review of a book (alphakid42) that he has never read. A person like that must be afaid of the truth.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: He's done it again! Review: Yet again Lee Strobal has helped me come to know that Yeshua is the Way the Truth and the Life and that anything that says anything against Him is wrong and can be refuted!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Get Real - Just look at Question 8! Review: I am a through-n-through athiest, yet I want to understand how the smartest, deepest, most rational thinkers among the believers in Christianity answer questions that seem to show God et al. to be other than loving, knowing, and just. That is what drew me to consider purchasing this book. I didn't expect a balanced or skeptical approach, but to include question 8, "If I'm still plagued by doubts, then is it still possible to be a Christian?" as one of the "8 most convincing arguments against Christian faith" is simply laughable. I didn't buy the book and you should not either. Instead, read the reviews carefully and select something more intellectual. scottie
However, the list in the initial editorial review contains
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent- - engaging and enlightening Review: One of the best books defending the tough questions surrounding Christianity, presented in an engrossing, thought-provoking, unflinching manner. An excellent complement to "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis- - just as much substance, but easier to read. Highly recommended!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Awesome Review: This is just an amazing book that thoroughly gives an explanation to some of the biggest objections for absolute faith.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Gave me doubts Review: Yes, I am a Christian, and I am giving this book one star. Because of many of the reasons the atheists already gave, and a slew of my own from readability to actually plaguing me with new doubts which weren't answered at all in the book, I concede to logic as Strobel said he did.
Initially I had some caution because it had too bold a claim. The 'Toughest' objections to Christianity. These 8 questions cause a quibble, and find little personal worth at the answers. They didn't seem extremely important to me. Indeed, the theologians' avoiding the direct topic made me frustrated also. I would strongly suggest Mere Christianity instead, and to not pick up a Strolbel book unless you've been a Christian for a long time and don't mind reading arguments to general apologetic topics.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good book for generating discussion around "serious" topics Review: First and foremost, I am very pleased that this book has generated so many reviews - both positive and negative. I believe that Lee Strobel's intent is to get Christians, and others, talking about some of the more difficult questions that arise if we take our faith seriously. A lot has already been said about this book by other reviewers, so I will keep my comments brief.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. Three strong points drew my attention - first the eight questions covered are good ones. I read the book hoping to add more depth to my ability to answer these questions. I feel like I accomplished this goal. Secondly, the persons interviewed are some of the top Christian thinkers around today. So, for the most part, the views presented are solid. Third - the premise the book uses (and begins with) is good. Interview a man who has fallen away from God (Templeton), find out his reasons, and then try to answer his questions. The Templeton aspect of the book gives Strobel a legitimate starting point before he begins the investigative process.
There are some issues that some have raised about this book that I think are legitimate. First - the author does not take a balanced approach. Strobel is guilty as charged, he only interviews Christians. Although, I am not sure how he could have covered the wide range of issues and included opposing views without exceeding 500 pages (probably too long for most, myself included). Secondly, the author is not really an unbelieving skeptic anymore. He was at one time, but he is now a member of the Body of Christ. I think this does prevent, or limit, his ability to ask certain questions during the interviews. Lastly, the book may not convince non-believers to follow Christ, so it probably better serves those who have already made this decision than those who have not. In defense of Strobel, he is not an apologist, so I did not really expect an extremely strong defense of the Christian faith from him.
I do think this book is well worth reading, so I recommend it to anyone looking for answers to some of the more difficult questions about faith. If you are a skeptic, hopefully it will answer some of your questions. If you are a believer, hopefully it will increase your faith, and ability to provide solid answers.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great Evangelism Tool Review: My youth group at my church started this book at the beginning of summer. We've gone through most of the book reviewing each objection very throughly. This is a great book to use in a small group setting such as this. I found myself asking more and more questions as the book went on. Then meeting in the group everyone would share their thoughts and express their questions. I'd suggest this book for anyone. I've enjoyed the entire expirence.
