Summary: Very misleading.
Review: Although the book itself is interesting, it is very misleading. She should state that it is her autobiography and really nothing more.

Summary: I wept throughout this book
Review: This book is a must for anyone that has been abused physically, verbally or even sexually all at the same time! This wonderful lady has saved my life! I was close to suicide and hating my world, and to the point of many incidents of insanity that was overtaking me, but I learned so much about myself just by studying her life and her emotional torments. She also taught me how to cope, by weeping and remembering to hold on to faith and your positive mind speaking to you.

Summary: An amazing story of a stong woman
Review: I had seen Vazant an number of times on Oprah and was struck by an amazing and strong woman. When I saw this book in the shops, I decided to buy it having no idea as to what it was about. The book is about her life, her unbelievable hardships ( I will never say I have it hard again!) and her phenomenal ability to pick her self up and just keep going. She seems to have an amazing ability to look into herself and be honest as to what the issues are in her life. I found tremendous strength in this - and have done this in my own life and have found what makes me angry and afraid. I was also inspired by Vazant's awakening to her spirituality and her total acceptance of those around her who would not understand her spirituality - again a lesson for myself. She's a wonderful women who deserves all the good fortune she now gets - I hope sincerely that she visits South Africa one day and inspires us all here in person.

Summary: THE DAY I CRIED!
Review: I had heard about vanzant through a number of people. Even though at the time I was still a skeptic I went and got the audio version. I would listen to it around the house but after a couple of minutes I had to give Iyanla my full attention. It as if she had watch my my entire preteen life (being that I am 19). To make a long story short it was as if she was speaking directly to me. Iyanla made me really believe that even though thing were not good in the past don't mean they have to be that way in the future. After I finished crying with her I put the past in the past and went our and enrolled in college. I am now in the middle of my sophomore year and in a few years I will have a degree in accounting. Most importantly I will be able to prove a better life for my son. Thank you so much Iyanla for giving me the push I needed to go ahead and face who I was so that I can see who I can be. P.S. I am no longer a skeptic

Summary: I cried the days I read it, then I rejoiced!
Review: Reading this book was a spiritual journey for me. It was easy to become an invisible looker-on in the scenes as she vividly painted the pictures. She is a gifted author. I recommend all women of color read this and make sure they have a few days when they do not have to share their attention. Be Blessed and read in good health!

Summary: A triumph of a story
Review: Written in a simple almost fictional style, Yesterday I cried is a book that all of us can relate to on one level or another. Iyalna tells us of the almost unbearable hardships that she went through as a child and how it affected her up until the present day, don't think it is just another sob story though, remember its intention is motivation not deactivation. She makes turning your life to the positive sound real. A very easy read. Only if you are open and ready to use it.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: When I read the book In the Meantime I thought to myself: "Wow here is someone who could put the exact words to my thoughts. Who is giving me a guiding hand and an encouragement to do what I must do." I was elated, I loved this woman who gave hope and courage. I was enthralled to find out that she wrote another book: Yesterday I cried. I waited for it to arrive very impatiently. But what a disappointment! It was just a self celebrating ans self ego building essay. What a pity that materialism corrupts even the best souls.

Summary: 2 Days!
Review: Thats how long it took my to read all 300 some odd pages of Iyanla's powerful and touching masterpiece. I could not put the book down, I thought if I did the story would go on without me. In "Yesterday I Cried" Iyanla recounts her life and how she truimphed over her haunting past and lets the reader know "Hey, you can do the same. Whatever you are experiencing is only temporary, you can grow through it."

Summary: I cried!, I couldn't breathe, and I laughed!
Review: I could not believe it! I had not read a book in ten years and all of a sudden, what I held in my hand, I could not put down. This book should be read by anyone and everyone! especially those who have endured tough and awful times and learned how to "grow" because of those times. What I felt is best said, "Thank You Iyanla"! and may God continue to bless you!

I could not leave it down for a second. It's a miracle that this woman is still alive after all she has been through. Her life is truly a lesson for us all to make the most of our own. After reading this i felt the power of her message come across so clearly.Truly a joy to read. And one I will recommend to anyone
