Rating: Summary: Do we truly understand what paganism is? Review: This book may be factual from Ms. Michaelsen's view point, but paganism is not of Satan. Paganism is older than Christianity itself, older than Judaism, and therefore, pre-dates the Christian god called Satan. I read a review on the first page (Reviewer: A reader from Bryan, TX ), that was nothing but an uneducated, over-emotional "altar call" better suited in a full gospel church, not on an intellectual medium such as Amazon. That person's Truth is not necessarily my Truth, or even your Truth.Ms. Michaelsen feels she was deceived by Satan. I feel she was jumping head first into something without a discerning spirit. The Bible teaches about discerning spirits, and so do Wiccans. People have always needed a scapegoat to throw the blame of their own shortcomings to, and Satan, a mythical god, was chosen to be the scapegoat for the entire world. Do I pity this mythical creature? I do not. I find it more amusing that people will say, "The devil made me do it!" instead of simply admitting, "I made a stupid mistake." I challenge people to think for themselves. Don't believe everything you read. As another reviewer pointed out, even Mike Warnke's The Satan Seller was debunked later as unfactual. He used to creative freedom to try and scare kids away from Satanism. Satanism is another thing I would like to touch on. Rebecca Brown's book, 'He Came To Set The Captives Free' was mentioned in the Bryan, TX review. I want to clarify that Ms. Brown is warning people against the evil nature of Satanists (who call themselves Witches). They are not true Witches. True Witchcraft is about love, healing, caring and taking care of the Earth and its occupants. Satanism is a perversion of Christianity and Paganism. I hope those who read this review can find it in themselves to question what they read - demand proof of validity, and talk to some Pagans to get a better understanding how they live their lives and what they truly believe in.
Rating: Summary: The truth behind a lie. Review: This book not only reveals a lot of truth about magic but also shows us the very nature of the average person. In this book the surgeon is often portrayed as sometone good because she is helping people recover from pains and problems. Just like real life people think that all things that are done to help a person, or that all blessings must be from a good source. You will learn that not everyone who performs good is of good.
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking... Review: This book really made me reevaluate the way i think. "The Beautiful Side of Evil" is a perfect name. Evil does look beautiful, and not everything is as it seems. Its the big struggle between good and bad...The way the book is written makes it easy to relate to her and her experiences. I believe these are true accounts. She describes them very vividly. Her experiences are striking...This book should be a must for people who consider themselves Christian, or those who find interest in the occult. This book is much more realistic and sheds light on subjects that are ignored in modern-day religion. It shows how faith can truly save someone.
Rating: Summary: Superb! Review: This book was by far one of the best I have read yet on the occult. I am always interested to see just how the devil can manipulate people and how he deceives them, but even more how God can set these people free from that bondage.
Rating: Summary: Chilling True Account Review: This book would make a good gift for those who are either involved in or interested in the occult, witchcraft or Wicca. I have given it to several people over the years.
Rating: Summary: Well told autobiography, and its informative Review: This is a great book for how well it presents data. In most books you get the author's perspective on what is going on in all the lives of the people in the story. In this book the story is written in the perspective of the main character at the time each part of the story is written. In it you really get an understanding of the feelings the main character, Johanna, experienced. The book also shows how confusing the way to follow can be to a single person. This quality of the book stands in sharp contrast to other books where they give a general simplified perspective. This autobiography is a little confusing to find clear general principals from but the last seventh of the book helps whoever is reading it to have some basic truth about the issues that were active in the autobiography section. It uses sections of essay writing (all by the same author) each explaining different parts of how demons work and how Jesus saves. It also uses quite a few passages from the bible to prove it's points. The whole book is worth reading and it I ought to warn whoever wants to read it that people commonly find this book scary or disturbing. But I think that this book is a great documentary of someone's early life and that it has a great group of essays that explain how things work and can work for you.
Rating: Summary: Eye-Opening Review: This is an excellent book that really opened my eyes to how easy it is to be drawn away from the things of God.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT EDUCATIONAL TOOL !! Review: When I first read this book I was convinced that she was a paranoid experiencing delusions and audio halucinations. THEN after encountering these people myself in the Central American prayer groups of our own USA, I learned that what she writes about is VERY real & is still going on today. This book is a MUST READ for anyone ministering to the central & South American communities. This book is very educational.
Rating: Summary: Why?!?!?! Review: Why would someone wirte such a book? Half of the things said are WRONG! This book is a very biased look at the occult. It is not what she makes it out to be.
Rating: Summary: WHOA! EXCELLENT EDUCATION TOOL FOR CHRISTIANS! Review: Yes, I recongized that I had similar experiences like Johanna Michaelsen since I was a small kid that fell into my involvement of occult when I practiced witchcraft. I experienced frequently visions, dreams, and hallunications. How greatly wrong I am! I finally accepted Lord Jesus as Lord and Savior and renounced my involvement of occult. I prayfully am looking a way to end the pyschic powers with Lord's guidance. In 1997, When I ordered and read this book, the demons manifested and oppressed me! It lasted two seasons until I confessed every sins from birth to present in Jesus' name. Yes, that is so real. Be careful when read this book. I strongly recommend this book as excellent education tools to everyone who was involved with occult and want to repent toward Lord Jesus Christ. Also, I strongly recommend that Dr. Rebecca Brown's books ("He Came To Set The Captives Free", "Prepare For War", "Becoming A Vessel of Honor", and "Unbroken Curses") for everyone. I am praying for you in Jesus' name. Amen. In Christ, Tim Stark
