Summary: Preachy rather than Informative
Review: Higgins tends to use the stories of the not-so-perfect women of the Bible as a soapbox to preach rather than give a historical (for as much as the Bible is historical) accounting of the women who were victimized and thrown aside for being other than the 'perfect' Christian women. She goes very little into the male-written Bible that terrorizes any woman who shows a bit of backbone or is self-assured in her own right. Definately NOT a keeper.

Summary: Please note two different books...
Review: There is some confusion because there are two books with the same title. Bad Girls of the Bible by Barbara Essex is terrific! She uses sound biblical interpretation to help us uncover the "real" story of infamous biblical women. She goes beneath the surface and uses history, archeology and other tools to get at the heart of the women's stories. She doesn't berate them, but helps us see their more positive qualities even though they are being used to move the biblical story forward. This book is fabulous!
