Review: This book provides a history of solid Christian doctrine and martyrdom from the time of Christ to 1660. The book includes moving letters and testimonies of those waiting to be burned, to their friends and relatives. When you complete the nearly 1200 pages, you'll wish there were more. This book is a must for anyone wishing to research, or prepare for persecution.

Review: This was written in the 1600s, later translated into English, and remains a classic work on persecution and martyrdom of Christians. It's a very extensive work, and a copy of this should be on every church bookshelf as a reference. It's a shame this book is not better known outside of Anabaptist circles. Evangelicals and other Protestants will find this a useful, and often emotionally powerful, book. It's far more extensive than similar books such as Foxe's Book of Martyrs. Includes material on the persecution of believers by the state (and by the official state churches) from the time of Christ until 1600 AD.
