Rating: Summary: This Book is not for Everyone! Review: I read this book over the summer . . . when I finally finished, I threw it across my bedroom, and these months later it remains in the corner. Maybe too many of my loved ones have died, but I found the book more depressing than inspiring. Also, the little gems of wisdom weren't exactly earth shattering with their depth. This book presented me with nothing I hadn't already figured out. Bottom line: if you like it, fine, but don't give it to someone unless you know they'll love it too.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: I thought this book was one of the best I have read in a long time. I would recommend that all fathers and sons read this but also that mothers and loved ones read this too. I have searched for specific self-help books in the past couple of years and upon reading this book I would have to say that this is probably the best self-help book there is. It not only shows you about life but also how to express your feelings. I can really relate to this book because my grandfather is dying in front of me right now and I have no control. I feel like Mitch because I want to be able to do something for him when it is not possible. I hope everyone reads this book because it will change your life.
Rating: Summary: To live life as Morrie planned! Review: What a gift! I read the book in under 2 hours. I laughed, I cried and I loved Morrie and Mitch. I plan to keep a copy for myself and pass one on to those I know to share the most powerful story I have read in my lifetime. We need more Morries and Mitchs in this world!
Rating: Summary: Words of inspiration and love Review: This is without a question one of the best books I have ever read. The language was simple, so were the ideas, yet they also require a lot of thinking. I read the book for quite a few times now. Each time I read it, I find something new, something I didn't discover from the last time. The same words takes on different meanings each time they go through my mind. I loved this book, the lessons of love, of life, of the soul. The lessons are not on Tuesdays, and they don't end on Tuesdays. The school of life is in session as long as we live, for every breath we take, every beat of the heart.
Rating: Summary: Tuesday's with Morrie Review: I have bought this book for all my family and friends. Wouldn't it be nice if after reading this book we would all think twice about our lives and realize how short they really are. I have dog eared many pages and go back and reread Morrie's profound statements. I think we all have a Morrie in our lives!
Rating: Summary: tuesdays with morrie Review: Mitch Alboms 'Tuesdays With Morrie' is an awesome book. It has 192 pages dealing with such issues as love, death, fear, and happiness. The important characters are Mitch Albom and Morrie Schwarts. It takes place in the early 90's. Tuesdays with Morrie is a story of a dying teacher and his student. Only the classes took place on tuesdays, the subject was the meaning of life, and it was taught from experience. " Love each other or perish" pg. 149. The title 'Tuesdays with Morrie' is signifigant to the story because Morrie and Mitch always have their meetings on tuesdays. The cover is simple but meaningful, just like Morrie. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this book a 9. I recommend this book because I think it is an awesome story of love and death. It really teaches you alot about yourself and the way you look at others.
Rating: Summary: An insightful book filled with emotion Review: I finished reading "Tuesdays with Morrie" just in time to see the TV movie. I found the movie to be mildly entertaining, but the book is a treasure. Mitch Albom does a great job of capturing Morrie's wisdom and perspective. In this day and age, most of us get too wrapped up in our own lives, worries, and problems, and forget to step back and see the big picture. This book helped me see important issues in a different light. I would recommend this quick read to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Thank you Morrie and Mitch Review: Haven't you noticed how people confuse the gift with the box, the spirit of a person with the body in which it is housed? Morrie explains that to us in terms we can understand. He points us in the direction of the Truth and lets us see the other stuff as perpetual worldly misunderstanding. He knew his body and ours to be a simple teaching aid to be laid by when physical life is over, and he communicated in a very loving way that the part of Morrie that was of real value was never in any danger. What is One with all there is can never perish, and sweet, caring Morrie gave us all a glimpse of that most important lesson. I am most thankful for Morrie and his teachings, and for Mitch Albom for writing them down for us.
Rating: Summary: This Is The Most Powerful Book I've Ever Read Review: This book has had more impact on my life than anything else I've ever read, by far. It's a reminder to appreciate the simple, little things in life. It's a reminder that when you're dead, the things you've accumulated and the things you've done will disappear. What will remain is the ways that you've affected or touched other people. This is a simple book with simple messages. Live fully and in the moment. Treat others with respect, kindness, love, and dignity. Seek joy. However, these messages are easily lost given the constantly increasing pressures we all face. This book is a guide to a way that you can live your life where you'll be able to look back at the end and feel peace and contentment. I've given copies of this book to many people that I know. I encourage you to read this book and do so with an open mind and heart.
Rating: Summary: Learning to live with passion! Review: Morrie loved life. He loved to teach the young. He loved to dance. He loved music, food, etc. He lived with passion. But Morrie learned to live only after he learned to die. No, not his own death, his mothers' death, his fathers' living death, and then his fathers' actual death. Wow! life lessons! Mitch was learning how to live, by learning about death thru Morrie.
