Summary: A must for parents wanting to train in a Biblical way
Review: This book has been a God-send to us as we raise our four children. With practical, Biblical advice, this book will challenge and encourage you to keep up the fight against modern child-raising tactics. I give this at every baby shower I attend to help the new parents out. I have never received anything but gushing thanks a few months or even years later! Whether you are a young couple just starting out or already have grown kids, this is a must have for your home library.

Summary: Best parenting book available
Review: This book has been out several years, and it is the finest parenting book I have read. I am the father of four, and very much appreciated Dr. Tripp's solid biblical advice for getting to the heart attitudes behind a child's behavior. Read it !

Summary: Not Worthy of One Star
Review: This book is NOT what should be used to guide a parent in raising children. While Tripp does discuss scripture... he seems to think the only way to discipline children is to beat up on them! That is NOT what the Bible says! Tripp may believe that a person should discipline with physical punishment... but what does that teach our children? To hit, fight, and that the people who are supposed to love them are also required to beat them??? This is not the lesson I want my child to learn!

As an alternative, I would recommend reading Grace based Parenting, by Dr. Tim Kimmel. Dr. Kimmel's book is wonderful!

Summary: Must Have Book for Christian Biblical Parenting
Review: This book is packed full of essential Biblical teaching and instruction. Tedd Tripp is funny, witty, serious and thought provoking. This is the kind of book you read over and over again as there is much to learn about ourselves contained within its pages. You won't like this book if you're a frequent visitor to the "self-help" isle. No newage psychobabble here, Tedd Tripp seeks to instruct God's way. Please take advantage of the "about me" features when checking the credibility of reviewers including me. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jer 17:9) Peace! <><

Summary: THE most biblical parenting resourse
Review: This book is solidly biblical, based on sound exegesis of the scriptures. The video series for small group study is also excellent.

I have read EVERY SINGLE negative review on this page, and absolutely without exception, every one has severely misrepresented or totally misunderstood the contents of this book. These people have forsaken God's Word, and chosen to follow the vain philosophies of men instead---secular humanism in particular. It's too bad they can't call it what it is. I can only assume that they have never bothered to crack open a bible and seriously study.

Summary: This is THE parenting book I've been looking for!
Review: This book is to child-rearing what Dallis Willard's book "Spirit of the Disciplines" is to disciplines of prayer and fasting -- a welcome breath of fresh air, and cool, refreshing water on a parched land. I have read extensively on the subject of child rearing and discipline, from a christian perspective. Most of what I've come across is too heavy handed, speaking only to behavior modification of the child. Tripp addresses the parent, too, reminding us parents that we are accountable before God for our heart-attitudes in the manner in which we rear our children. This book reminds the parent that rearing christian children is a high calling. This book fed my spirit, and I'm able to give to my family and friends out of the overflow. As an aside, I have given several copies as baby-shower gifts.

Summary: Best book I've ever read on parenting!!!
Review: This book is without a doubt the best book I've ever read on parenting. I wish I read this book years ago but it's never too late to do the right thing! If I had the money I would buy this book for every parent I know!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very Helpful
Review: This book was very helpful in helping me to see my need to address my childrens heart rather than their behavior (the sickness rather than the symptoms). I recommend it without hesitation. All these reviewers who adamantly condemn it sound like they should be writing parenting books instead of reading them. If anything, this book has shown me how to spank less and engage my children as a mentor.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding Book!
Review: This is a book that treats the topic of parenting biblically. Instead of focusing on child behavior as many books do, this book promotes the radical notion that God is far more interested in our children's heart responses! The authors' high view of scripture as the basis for parenting and training our children is a breath of fresh air.

Summary: A helpful resource
Review: This is a good book and I recommend it. It has some helpful instruction, but it didn't answer all of my questions. I read this book several years ago, and I am still learning how to appeal to my child's conscience. I think it's a life-long process.
