Summary: Great basic resource when purchasing/evaluating a car
Review: The above review is ridiculously harsh. Yes, most of the VIN and engine/trans code info is available on the net, but few of us have the luxury of a wireless connection when we're out in someone's garage trying to buy their car. This is a great carry-along to help give you good information on decoding the VIN tags and trim tags present on most cars. Depending on the car, this can tell you what engine should be in the car, what colors it was built in, options, the area it was delivered to new, etc. All very useful in deducing the desirability and honesty of the car in front of you. Highly recommended. From the hundreds of cars I've inspected, I've found the info in the book to be at least 95% accurate, which is quite good, in my experience.

Summary: Essential For VIN Decoding
Review: This book and it's sister book for cars from 1970-1979 are a must have for those who need their VINs decoded. It'll give you all the information on any American car which we know is essential for retoring that 1967 Cougar or 1964 Polara...

Summary: This is useless
Review: Well, From the title, I expecteed to get catolog of all car part codes/ ID's. This book even went so far as to give a lame excuse why some models weren't covered. It ONLY has Engine ID's and basic VIN decoding that is widely available on the internet. Oh, yeah, a few transmissions were covered. Three words...."BAD, STINKY, USELESS"!
