Rating: Summary: not scholarly, but informative Review: If you're interested in knowing more about Korean Buddhism and you don't read Korean, you will probably have to start with this account of Korean teachers, and you will certainly learn something from it. But this is not a scholarly study at all. It is mostly a strung-together account of famous individuals. It really lacks historical rigor and often simply leaps from anecdote to anecdote. The author uses few original sources and he often has to quote large passages from other authors or from translators.
