Rating: Summary: The Genres of the Classroom! Review: This book gives a clear yet theoretically rigorous overview of how genre has been considered in rhetorical theory; it gives examples from everyday life and the college composition classroom that show how genres work and why they matter; and it makes an outstanding and compelling argument for the importance of teaching first year composition from a perspective that pays close attention to reading and understanding genre. This book puts theory to use in practical ways--which is what I liked most about it--but it also finds ways of breaking up thinking about WID/WAC as an either-or. Smart stuff!
