Summary: The authoritative text for LC Classification
Review: This is the fifth edition of what I believe has become the standard for teaching the Library of Congress Classification in library science graduate programs. The text starts with the history of the popular system and continues by describing the system's structure and format, and notation. Instruction is given on assigning class numbers and on utilizing LC tables to construct numbers. The text includes an outline of each class and provides specific examples of numbers in each class. Also included are a chapter on classification of special library materials like comic books and microforms, and two appendices with LC tables and schedule models.

This text is highly recommended for anyone in the library profession who is interested in learning how the Library of Congress Classification system works and how to apply the system when classifying books.
