Summary: Sad, very sad...
Review: Based on the obvious and odious grammatical errors in the description of this book, I wouldn't venture $1.95 to have a look. I fear I'd be compelled to shred it for cat litter...

Writers, if you don't see a problem with the description, you need to go back to Strunk and White -- at least Word grammar checker -- before you consider releasing your prose on and unsuspecting and defenseless public.

Summary: Political and Economic Rant in Disguise
Review: I bought and read this book thinking that it was going to be a book about writing, publishing what you wrote and making some money in the process. Instead about 50% of this 80 page book turned out to be about the economy and politics. And despite the authors claims to the contrary portions of that rant were racist. Sample text page 77, "You can go by any construction site or landscaping site and the majority of the workers will be Latino's (sic). It has gotten so bad in my area that I will not venture into a small store around lunchtime because of the long lines. I have nothing against the people I just don't like waiting in line..." (what's the point? It's OK to wait in a line if the people are of the same race as you are but otherwise it's not?).

Also as others have pointed out the book was heavily flawed with grammatical errors, typos and spelling errors. Sample errors: Satan spelled satin, state spelled sate and the aforementioned Latinos (plural) spelled Latino's (possessive). This despite that one of the author's suggestions is to make sure to have your text proofread.

The author starts the book off by tell you a bit about himself (he's a displaced computer sales worker), and goes on to give you some pratical advice about what to write (find out what's selling and study it) and a few pages of affirmations/pep talk (I can do it).

Next there's a brief overview of "print on demand" then several pages about a "print on demand" publisher called Lulu which is what the author recommends and in fact has used to publish this book. Most of this information is presented on Lulu's site itself more clearly and better written.

That's all folks because then comes the economic/political essays in the guise of "example book start up" and in fact the 2 essays appear to have been "published" by the author as a downloadable text at Lulu.

Suggest passing this book by (I've returned mine) and just read the information freely available at Lulu.

Summary: The book definitely fills a gap!
Review: This book gives you access to an awesome knowledge base and help forum for new writers. A place where all are welcomed, whether you're an old pro at writing or a struggling beginner. A place where one can have basic questions on publishing as well as complicated questions answered without some literary jerk sniping at you. A very useful and informative book with plenty of good ideas on writing, publishing and marketing.
