Rating: Summary: Excellent preparation for a challenging exam. Review: As a recent applicant to the U.S. Border Patrol, I know that the Border Patrol Exam can be tough. If you need to prepare for the exam, this is the best test-prep book available. The book includes three full-length exams -- a diagnostic test and 2 practice tests -- that were extremely useful in helping me pinpoint areas to study. I also found the review chapters to be very useful: the book has a full chapter devoted to each section of the exam. I know that other amazon.com users have criticized the vocabulary section of this book, but I think that those reviewers are a bit misguided: no test prep book can tell you exactly which vocabulary words will appear on an exam (the exam makers do not, of course, release such information); the best any book can do is help you improve you basic vocabulary skills and teach you ways to approach vocabulary questions. Although the vocabulary chapter in this book is brief, it deals with the important stuff: word roots, suffixes, and other things you can use to help break down words you don't know. On the whole, you can't find a better book than this one to prepare for the Border Patrol exam.
Rating: Summary: Border Patrol Exam Review: The book itself was excellent. I previously attempted the Border Patrol Exam twice before and had failing results. I credit my passing of the test to this book. The reason I give the review only 4 stars is because there are a few errors in the booklet. Nothing major but a hinderance anyway. Anway, I would recommend this book to anyone that has had trouble passing the Border Patrol Exam. It has alot of useful hints and is a great tool for getting the extra edge in mastering the test.
Rating: Summary: Border Patrol Test Prep Review: This is a great book to let the applicant know what the Border Patrol test is about. I scored a 97%, much of it due to the confidence this book gave me in the Alternative Language Test (ALT) area. I have a very smart friend with an MBA who didn't use this book. He didn't pass the Border Patrol test. The ALT threw him off. (This booklet will teach you the steps in using the ALT method. I am sure if I didn't have the book and first looked at the ALT during the testing process - I would've flunked.) If you are serious about being a Border Patrol Agent, then it's worth the $...
