Summary: Out of date
Review: This 1918 book is well past its sell-by date, even if not so much as Sayce's grammar, well over 100 years old.

This is a grammar of the ancient Assyrian language, by the way, not the language of the Assyrian Christians which is also often confusingly called Assyrian (that is a dialect of Syriac, a type of Aramaic unconnected with the ancient language, which is an Akkadian dialect).

I would recommend anyone starting Akkadian (of which Assyrian is a dialect) to use Richard Caplice's 'Introduction to Akkadian' or, better, the longer and more detailed 'Grammar of Akkadian' and 'Key' by John Huehnergard which will give you a far better knowlege of Akkadian and with the advantage of 80 years additional scholarship. The former is a brief introduction and the latter a teaching grammar: neither are reference grammars.
