Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A new look at academies and private schools
Review: I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in the issue of school choice. The authors here discuss a wide range of schools that historically have served students that have been excluded from public school systems because of ethnicity, gender, culture, or religion. The discussion of relevant issues in the introduction and conclusion is fairly balanced, providing an overview of many sides of the debate. The book includes cases of schools serving white females, free colored males, freed African Americans, the Chinese, Cherokee, and several other Native American tribes.
