Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A gutsy, Sexy Challenge to Traditional Authority and Tastes
Review: This text, by Megan O'Neil, encourages students to "read" elements of popular culture with the same skills teachers will later ask them to employ in discussing other more "scholarly" texts. This reader/writing tool challenges students to see things such as subtext and context in topics with which they are already familiar. The book invites both teachers and students to take seriously their own tastes in movies, music and more.

One valuable feature: an extensive Works Cited for each chapter introduction, as well as for each reading, when available.
