Summary: Philosophy in a nut shell
Review: William James Earle's Introduction to Philosophy is a basic introductory text given to the problems, terminology, and methodology of philosophy. Gone are the sordid tales of back-biting and boorish behavior that are common place in other introductions, Earle sticks to the subject at hand, never straying into scandal or hifalutin proclamations of insight and mindless jibberish so common to other introductions. The book is broken up into the typical fields, and contains a very useful glossary at the end which stays the course, never pausing to wallow in the mire of bottom-feeding explicatives. I highly recommend the book, as it strips the subject down to reveal its pristine back-side, never succumbing to the sort of sensationalizing and frivolous camp that is typical of your basic introductory text.
