Rating: Summary: Maybe it lost something in translation Review: This is a very interesting book, worthwhile but very flawed. It very, very liberally interprets chapter 38 of Genesis, following lovely young Thamara as she weds two different sons of Juda. The artwork is really lovely, with watercolors of voluptuous and tanned Thamara being particularly striking(The cover is excellent, it's a shame Amazon doesn't have it up). However, the story (if you're into that sort of thing) doesn't make very much sense. The work was originially in French, which I suspect may have a great deal to do with this. Part of the storyline involves Thamara being abducted, which I mention for two reasons: it is illustrative of the mystifying plot, because you don't really understand why, and also because all the sex in this novel is *not* consensual so if that's something you feel strongly about, avoid this one. Another random caution: one of my friends hated this book because Thamara (and all the other women, who really look just like her) are very voluptuous. I'm not trying to nicely say that they are fat, they are just very curvy and big breasted. Since all of the women look the same, if that really is not your cup of tea, you won't find much since the men are all pretty. . .lackluster. All in all, I don't regret buying this book, even though it's not my favorite. I would even by more books by this author (he has another series), if only for the artwork.
Rating: Summary: All round a very good book! Review: Wow, I really liked this book. The art in here is really high quality. The story does get a little confusing at times, and you often find yourself asking why certain events have just happenend. However, if you can put up with that, and really appreciate high quality drawing you will enjoy this book. One word of warning: don't buy this is you do not like curvy women because that is almost all you get in this book. Don't let me put you off the females in this book are very very attractive, but if large chests and curvy bodies don't do it for you, you may struggle to enjoy this one! Overall I really enjoyed this, and recommend it to anyone who appreciates the full female form.
