Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Full of typos and errors Review: I had to go through this book with a pencil, correcting all the spelling mistakes, instruction errors, and gross inconsistencies between the book and the CD. Other than that, it's a great help in learning Director from scratch. I might have finished the book sooner if I didn't have to sit back and scratch my head in confusion every other paragraph.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: a great disappointment Review: I had to manage a project, I only had 5 days to finish it.It took me 2 days to learn Director 8 an 2 days to complete my project. This is a must buy book for anyone who wants to earn Director in a flash.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: a great disappointment Review: I set this as the core tutorial text for an introductory unit in Director. The great majority of the students found it less than helpful. It led to deep confusion and frustration. It needs a thorough edit, not only for typographic errors, but for structural ones. Important basic information is left to the last 3 chapters. Many of the tutorials are just a show and tell, with limited educational outcomes.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Very good, lingo transcript needs extra attention Review: This book has been extremely helpful and is well laid out. The content is very relevant. It does need some extra attention to the accuracy of the lingo. There have been a lot of places where I have had to change the lingo in the book with a pen because it was incorrect. This has to be expected to some extent but it was pretty annoying to repeatedly not understand why your code didn't work, only to find that when you compared the lingo in the book with the completed versions on the CD, they didn't match. Even the names of many of the cast members and script headings were different. This would be more acceptable if there was a website you could go to for ammendments. Maybe a little extra combing over the code before release would be worth it. I guess sometimes it actually felt pretty good when I realised that I was capable of finding lingo errors in the book, but it may have skimmed a couple of days off the learning process if they weren't there in the first place. Apart from that though, the book is an excellent tutorial based introduction to Director and lingo. BTW, 'Lingo In A Nutshell' is possibly the best reference book I have ever read, even though it only goes up to Director 6.5, it contains the absolute core code that is still very relevant.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Must Buy Review: THis book has helped me so much, there were many aspects of Director that I didn't understand. This book is VERY well written and I look forward to buying other books by this author. Richard should be commended for the excellent way he presented the material.
