Rating: 3 stars
Summary: genealogy book source
Review: Mr. Ray gives many good tidbits about the Tennessee Territory and often can provide you with new clues as to where to look for your ancestors. Unfortunately, he never bothered to document any of his sources and is thus, unacceptible as a "best evidence" book if you are wishing to join such societies as the DAR/SAR or other historical societies, which require everything to be closely documented.

I must say, it is nicely indexed and has some photos of the areas. I simply wish he had taken the time to create the proper bibliography for his book which named his source as many times, he is the only source for some of the information cited.

If you are researching in the Tennessee area and stuck on a line, I would suggest you try to obtain a copy of this book to possibly get a new sense of direction. Its a good clue book but as a source for pure research, the book is not what you want.
