Summary: You'll Devour this Book
Review: There's countless screenwriting books out there. I've read countless screen writing books. Some are great, some are okay, some are lousy, but almost all say mostly the same thing. This was totally refreshing. I enjoyed Wellman's enthusiasm as he spoke of devouring great works. I couldn't put this book down, and when I was done devouring it, I felt nourished rather than bloated for a change. I also deeply appreciate his candor in often just saying "this works..who knows why...who cares...go see for yourself!" Yes!

Review: This book exponentially improved my understanding of the essential elements found in great stories, whether novels or movies. While the book is intended for writers, I feel it should be required reading in every English literature or film appreciation course. The examples used are excellent and the honesty of the author is refreshing, greatly enhancing the principles being explained.

For TV, film, book and/or gaming fans this book will certainly deepen your enjoyment levels by making it possible for you to more fully appreciate the skills that go into writing a good solid story that pulls you into the story world, introduces you to interesting, exciting and believable characters, and takes you on a priceless adventure. For today's screenwriter this is an excellent companion book to add to McKee and Fields on your bookshelf.
