Summary: All you need to know...
Review: ...about submitting a manuscript. Laufenberg's book covers the complete gamut, and makes the process do-able. Along with vastly increasing your chance of publication, it gives you a sense of confidence as you dive into the otherwise confusing submission process. If you're about to start shopping that new book of yours, this is a must-read.

Summary: A 'must' for any writer aspiring to publication
Review: Create appropriate, notable submissions for publication, from proposals and cover letters to complete manuscripts, using Cynthia Laufenberg's Formatting & Submitting Your Manuscript, an invaluable informational guide for prospective authors seeking publication. Now in an updated and expanded second edition, Formatting & Submitting Your Manuscript is a 'must' for any writer aspiring to publication. Especially valuable are the tips on common mistakes made in the usual submission, whether it be the initial query letter or the completed work.

Summary: Good for New Writers
Review: This book is a complete reference and is very handy. You'll find almost all forms of professional communication that a writer needs to make on a regular basis, and will take all the work out of formatting. Giving you a complete set of manuscript formats in hand, this book helps in letting you concentrate on the most important part of the submission process--writing. However, I felt that the book would be good only for beginner or intermediate writers who haven't had much experience formatting and submitting, or those writers who like to dabble in a variety of genres. The tips in this book are quick, concise and up-to-date. A definite must have to keep on your desk if you're new in the business.

Summary: Save Your Money
Review: Who in their right mind keyboards a double quote using two single quotes? (For example, "this" versus ''this'').

Speaking of quotes, I think this quote from page 236 says it all:

"Your work may fail to sell for creative reasons or other reasons but it shouldn't fair because of simple things like grammar, punctuation and spelling and/or formatting."
