Rating: Summary: If you really want to learn, this is the book for you! Review: I teach crime scene techniques to police officers and this book is a mainstay for that instruction. This is the first text book a new CSI should read. If you are an old hand in crime scene you will still learn from Barry Fisher. This is not an old dry text book. Each chapter has real cases for reference. I found the book to be very interesting and it is required reading for all new CSIs in my agency (Tarrant Co. Sheriff's Office, Ft. Worth Texas). This is also one of the required reading texts for the level one crime scene certification examination of the International Association for Identification.
Rating: Summary: New to the field Review: I was an officer in the field for 11 years, I could not velieve the things I missed over the years. I am starting a new career so I ordered the material and loved the book. I am currently working on my certification for CST and recommend this book even to the field officer.
Rating: Summary: What a career and practice in forensics entails Review: Now in a newly updated and expanded sixth edition, Techniques Of Crime Scene Investigation by Barry A. J. Fisher, who draws upon his many years of experience and expertise as the Crime Laboratory Director for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and who is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, California State University, Los Angeles, California, is a comprehensive, detailed text on the applied science forensic medicine. Written at college level for serious students of this fundamental profession, the meticulous, thorough explanations of each chapter will prove fascinating for anyone with an interest in forensics, enhanced for the reader with graphic details highlighted with numerous black-and-white photographs to present a clear overall picture of what a career and practice in forensics entails. Techniques Of Crime Science Investigation is a highly recommended text for anyone studying or considering the study of this aspect of police science.
Rating: Summary: Dave's Serial Killer Home Page Book Review.... Review: This book is one of the most comprehensive and thoroughly written books of it's nature. An excellent clinical analysis of the crime scene investigation from start to finish. I HIGHLY recommend this book; the real life case studies (Night Stalker, Hillside Stranglers, to name a few) keep it above the rest in a class of it's own....
Rating: Summary: For Forensics Buffs Review: This is a great book for ne body interested in knowing more about forensic science, it has a great overview of many different aspects of this varied area and the case studies make for some interesting reading, its set out in away thats easy and clear to understand, I left my copy lying around at home, and was amazed at the how many people picked it up to flick through and then couldn't put it down (including my brother and he hates to read!) Its money well spent!
Rating: Summary: Techniques of Crime Scene Investigation Review: This is another great book on Crime Scene Investigation. I like the way it explains how to lift evidence, especially blood from an object or person and prepare it for shippment to a crime lab. It has all the proceedures for investigating any crime scene. It is well written and explained. It has great photographs.
