Summary: British Colonialism leads to racial tension
Review: PASSAGE TO INDIA has a good lesson about an important time period in India's history. However, this point could have been expressed in a much shorter format. It does give the reader a less than romantic feeling about India, but at the same time a more realistic feel for the country. This book would be excellent for a class about British Colonialism or even perhaps as a lesson in Indian train of thought. However, it cannot not be excepted as a defenitive novel about Indians because there are over 900 million Indians that no single book can define and also because it was written by a non-Indian. I just wish Forster had said what he wanted to say and ended the book!!!
