Summary: EXACTLY the animal-friendly journal I was looking for!
Review: I really didn't think I'd find one, but here it is. No need to kill a poor cow for the insanely selfish, MeMeMe-ness rampant in the US today. Count me among the savagely happy! And relieved!

By the way... doesn't everyone know what "faux" means?

Summary: Great book for beginners and non serious writers.
Review: It's only $11. Who cares if it isn't leather. After alls do people not understand leather is expensive. If you want a real leather journal then be prepared to pay a lot more than $11. It is a great journal for beginners and people who just like to write down their events and memories.

Summary: Surprisingly durable with near daily use!
Review: My job requires me to be a "Road Warrior" and as an avid reader my journal flies with me twice a week as I use it to note interesting passages I have read, quotable quotes, observations and thoughts, and words I need to look up. I have had this particular journal for a year and a half and have been quite rough with it and it still looks great. When traveling I generally just toss it into my briefcase or carry-on. The cover still looks like new and the spine and binding are tight after opening it and pressing down while writing on it hundreds of times.

It is small enough to carry (7"x9") with plenty of pages (144 pages), a fold over magnetic flap cover that stays tightly shut, an expandable pouch for loose items in the back cover and a red ribbon page marker. The pages contain recycled fibers and are lightly gray lined (26 per page). The lines are light enough not to distract from drawing yet visible enough to keep you from writing "downhill."

If this particular journal cover is not your style, Paperblanks has many different styles to satisfy a broad spectrum of tastes. But make no mistake, this is NOT a leather bound journal. However, it is a very affordable, durable, attractive and well-designed journal. These journals can also be found at brick and mortar Barnes and Noble stores but not in as many styles. Buy one with confidence!

Summary: faux leather
Review: Not to make a big deal about something that's been brought up on other reviews of these books, but they're advertised as "faux old leather". That means fake leather, so there's no cause to be disappointed that it's not real cow. ;) Personally, I like the these journals quite a lot - I like the feel of the covers, the inside pouch is a nice touch, and they've been durable so far (I have three now).

Summary: Beautiful!
Review: These are beautiful items. The magnetic flap closes easily and the momento pocket in the back is so nice. I gave this as a gift and now want one for myself!

Summary: faux leather
Review: This deal seems too good to be true, and it is. The discription fails to mention that the "leather" is really cardboard made to look like leather. I went for the deal to get two. I received two of the same exact cardboard books. Not a happy shopper
