Rating: Summary: Here is your Spike (James Marsters) Calendar for 2005 Review: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" has been its grave two years and we are living with our first television season without "Angel," but you can still get 2005 Calendars for both of those shows plus this one for Spike. Little did we know when Spike and Drusilla first arrived in Sunnydale in "School Hard," the third episode of Season 2 of "BtVS" that James Marsters would end up being a featured player on both that series and its "Angel" spinoff. But then, when William the Bloody showed up in Sunnydale looking like Billy Idol with fangs we never would have suspected that he would end up falling in love with Buffy Summers and getting a soul.
For those fans traumatized by the idea that James Marsters no longer bleaches his hair, the "Spike 2005 Calendar" should help them look into the abyss. The motif here is quite simple. For each month of the year there is a large posed portrait of Spike and then a candid shot of the character from "Angel" in the lower right corner. There are only a few shots of Spike in vamp face; more of them feature his signature long black coat. It is not until you get to the final three months of the year that the cast of "Angel" actually starts popping up in the candid shots from the series. I would have liked the calendar more if the pictures went the other way around, because the candid shots are a lot more interesting, but then I have been waiting for years for Willow's Wicca Calendar and that has not been forthcoming.
This Cedeco calendar is intended for distribution throughout the English speaking world, which means you get holidays for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Of course the phases of the moon are noted as well, although they would be most useful on an Oz Calendar (Oz as in werewolf and not wizard) than one for vampires. The front piece has a complete 2005 calendar on the bottom and an ad for "BtVS" collectibles on the top. I go for chronology, so I have my "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" calendar on the left, my "Angel" calendar in the middle, and my "Spike" calendar on the right.
