Rating: Summary: great journal Review: Excellent journal! LOVE the magnetic flap closure! This book is awesome - it's beautiful and has wonderful paper, and I don't have to feel guilty about dead animal skin in my house! To those who are mad that it's not real leather, get a grip! SO sorry no animals suffered to make this journal for you! Deal. I love this journal and highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Who gives a hoof if they didn't kill a cow for a journal? Review: I mean, seriously... would a dead cow improve the quality of one's journal entries? Would you be the next Thoreau if the skin of a sentient being were laid out all perty fer yer writin' pleasure?
Give me a break.
A bit of advice: go get a T-bone. Devour some dorsal root ganglia. Let it simmer for about 8-10 years. And then lets talk about some quality bovine pleasure.
Oh, and I gave this a "five star" rating for its lack-of-senseless-death factor. Big surprise, right?
PS - The title reads "Smythe Sewn Faux Old Leather Wraps, Foiled, Lined" In other words, I'd suggest not only a spell check, but a dictionary.
Rating: Summary: not for fountain pens... Review: I was disappointed to find that the paper in this book doesn't take fountain pen ink. Unless you're planning to write with a regular ballpoint, I'd recommend a moleskine journal instead.
Rating: Summary: I want to see the cow the got their leather from! Review: It looks interesting for a cardboard and machine printed cover but the description evokes a sense of handstitched-ness and wearing of leather.Does the word "wrap" mean something else I am not aware of? Be courteous to your customers and put "faux" or "pseudo" in front of "leather"!

Rating: Summary: Exquisite! Review: So what if it isn't real leather! That doesn't diminish its value at all! This is a mysterious, exotic and elegant looking journal book; one that will preserve your eloquent or personal writings like a royal treasure. The lovely gold embellishments have a slightly embossed texture. The book is nicely sized at 9 inches high by 7 inches wide (approx. 23 by 18 centimeters) with 144 vanilla cream pages. The paper is of thick acid-free archive quality, and printed with narrow margins and twenty-six delicate lines per page. It exhibits a bright red ribbon bookmark and a large expandable pocket at the back for stashing loose paper or extra bits & pieces. Also to be found inside at the center of the front cover page is a generously designated space for the owner to fill out who "This Book Belongs To" if they so wish. Plus the wrap around flap closes with a steadfast clap due to the subsurface magnetism embedded in the overlapping covers. You can even stow a pen or pencil neatly under the flap, between the paper edges and the cover at the right-hand side without much worry of it falling out. Beautiful as a planner or journal. Made in China.
Rating: Summary: Disapointed Review: The description fails to mention that this is not a leather book. It is a cardboard book made to look like leather. Not worth the price.
Rating: Summary: Classy and functional Review: This blank book really does have the appearance of an old leather book. The pages inside are acid-free, lined, and ivory with a thin red ribbon page marker. Also nice is the magnetic flap closure and a sewn-in pocket at the back of the book for notes, cards, letters, etc. Beautiful!
Rating: Summary: A Great Journal Review: Very nice journal - a little larger than I like, but nice paper and feel - it could do without the satin bookmark. The closing flap is a great - I can add pictures and clippings without them falling out.
