Summary: Extremly boring
Review: I give this book five stars. I'm looking for a similar book that teaches other languages.

Summary: Great Spanish Tool!
Review: I got this book at a book fair and I have been doing the lessons for about 2 weeks now. The book is divided into 24 1-hour lessons and each one is SO thorough and easy to understand. Zlotchew has a quiz at the end of each lesson so you can practice what you've just learned. I took SPanish for 3 years in high school and will be taking a college course next semester...this book is the PERFECT review and I'm learning SO many new things I never learned in high school...it's great for a review of Spanish for INtermediate-Advanced speakers and a great starter for beginners...I highly recommend this book

Summary: Logical, sequential and complete!
Review: I have never written a review before, but the outstanding quality of this book compels me to put my enthusiasm into words. I find learning foreign languages very difficult because it is hard to try and cobble together the real overview of the language from the usual series of books and tapes. I always feel that I am coming in somewhere in the middle and that I am expected to intuit the rules and structure of the new language. I have often wondered why someone doesn't just lay it ALL out with full, logical and sequential explanations so that one can build a solid understanding of the new language BEFORE the author runs off into mythical dialogue and selective explanations? Well, this book is the language book of my dreams! A light has gone on!

Summary: Excellent book for the beginner.
Review: I went through Pimsleur I and II. Then bought several books to learn the grammar. This book explained many things more clearly than other texts.

Summary: SO, SO but one of the books you should have.
Review: The book is great starting out and I will apologize now I have not completed the book but am half way finished with 12 lessons done. Like I was saying, the book starts off great, slow, eases into the language. It doesn't assume that you have done the language before and brings you right to the beggining point where you should be. And then whoa, the grammar hits you like a ton of bricks. Grammar after grammar lessons will be taught so be prepared. My personal opinion is that the grammar essons could give up a little to vocabulary and vocab usage could be used a little more. Another thing that has me livid is that the quizes at the end don't have answers. I don't know why but that is not the greatest idea. As well a unit review would be nice to re drill what you've learned into context.

Thanks Christian

Summary: Did they use an editor?
Review: This book looked like a wonderful book, and I loved the pace and the ease of covering each of the subjects, but...

On almost every page I found spelling, grammar and typographical errors. It got to the point that I was using a pencil to correct them myself and needed to keep the sharpener handy.

Also, there is no answer key to any of the exercises, so there is no way to check yourself at the end of the chapter tests.

Summary: Extremly boring
Review: This book may be used to review the basic grammar if you already have learnt spanish, but I don't recommend it. The book lacks dialogues and exercises. It has quiz with alternatives. Instead of this book I recommend Colloquial Spanish or Teach Yourself Spanish to learn the basic grammar and vocabulary. For more grammar practice I recommend Schaum's outlines of spanish grammar. To practise verbs I recommend Spanish Verb Tenses by Dorothy Devney Richmond.
