Rating: Summary: Lots of misinformation Review: Having restored a number of Chevrolets to showroom condition, I found Paul's book a sea of misinformation. Pictures with wrong dialog, incorrect and invalid part numbers and hard to decypher copy. Too bad this is the only book available for the Chevelle fan. You can actually get better info from the well-documented Camaro boys and probably be more accurate than what Paul is advising. If you use this book in your resto, take it with a grain of salt and double check your part numbers with the abundance of Chevelle web site info. This book sorely needs re-written... more carefully!!!
Rating: Summary: Take the information in this book with a grain of salt Review: TERRIBLE!!!Too many mistakes.Mr Hurd don't know the first thing about a correct Chevelle restoration.Too bad its the only Chevelle restoration book available.Stick to assembly manuals and original dealer books for your best source of information. This book don't cut it!!
Rating: Summary: What a mess! Review: The book is a bunch of notes without comprehensive organization. Models like '69 are insuficiently covered (but nice if you have a '71). This book can give you a hand but is very very limited.
Rating: Summary: Good SS specific information for each year Review: This book goes to great lengths to explain what is correct and incorrect about many of the parts of your SS Chevelle. It is intended for the restorer who is trying to put the correct shift knob, master cylinder, or hub cap on his or her Chevelle. As it explains each part, it lists the part number. Many of these part numbers will no longer do you any good at the Chevy dealer, but it will help you determine if the parts you have are correct and possibly help you find used ones.It has a lot of diagrams and pictures which will help you to reassemble your car correctly. I talks a lot about the correct color of various parts, especially under the hood. Despite the fact that coloration is very important to restorers, all photos are in black and white.
Rating: Summary: Facts. Facts. Facts. Review: This book is a great resource for the Chevelle restorer. The pictures are good, and the explanations are excellent. The areas covered are comprehensive, and the book boasts a good index. I wish that there had been color photos instead of the B&W provided, and more of a defined structure to the book (it seemed to jump around a little bit). A definite must-have for a Chevelle owner.
Rating: Summary: Facts. Facts. Facts. Review: This book provides a plethora of facts and decoding information. So many facts that this book is more of a technical reference than reading material. If you're working on restoring a Chevelle this book can save you many hours of research.
