Summary: A really nice book to own!
Review: I bought this book May '01, and it was the best SAT prep book I have ever bought! Starting out with two ways of using this book, A. "The Classic Way" in which you go through the book at a steady pace if you still have about five or six months like me! B. "The SAT EMERGENCY Plan" for those that are taking the SAT in just two weeks, or maybe even three days! The book gives lucid directions with a humorous tone for its students. It familiarizes its readers with the SAT exam, building up the confidence, which is a very important factor in taking the SAT. Then section two teaches the verbal skills, and of course, workouts with completely satisfying explanations. Section three comes with a handful of SAT math concepts and detailed explanations on how to do each section of the SAT. Yet the best thing the book offers for the math section is the Top Ten SAT Math Traps, which no other books (that I know of) offers. Master these questions to ace the last 3 questions of the Regular Math Questions! On Section four, once again, no other books that I know of offers their readers a "Stress Management System". This section could really save those stressful students taking their SATs the next week! Also, the PSAT reviews for sophomores are just as excellent; only if I could have acquired this book last year, the Writing Skills section would have boosted my mediocre English up a whole lot of points! Don't be surprised; still more awaits your attention! There are "SIX" full-length practice tests with explanations! Section six teaches you how to count your raw score and convert it to the real score, also devising a plan for each individual their goal aim. Section seven gives you more than 2,200 vocabs for you to cram, and best of all the English section, Kaplan SAT & PSAT 2001 edition grouped their vocabs into a "SAT Word Family List¡¨ Allowing the test-tomorrow-students memorizes vocabs more easily than ever by grouping similar definitions to cram! Last but not least, comes the Kaplan CD-ROM. A personalized plan, featuring both a verbal and a math section review, full-length and practice tests after each sections. For game-lovers, there is a humorous game for enhancing your vocab and math skills for the SAT! And for lazy seniors (like me) or early planning juniors, there is an "Admissions Planner" that helps you get more information on everything you need to worry for universities! I am very glad that I chose this book over a ton others!

Summary: The ONLY book you'll ever need!
Review: It starts off by telling you all about the SAT and than shows you great tricks for practicing the Verbal Section such as Sentence Completions. After each section, you have about ten questions to test out the strategies you learned in the earlier section. After the Verbal Section, they move on to SAT Math adn they have a "Top Ten SAT Math Traps" which really helps! None of the tips are stupid such as : "Dont Mark 'E' for the Quantitive Comparisons!"

They also include an amazing three tests to practice on and lists of common words and root words so that you can find out what strange words mean by looking at the roots! They also have a summary of SAT math (really helpful!)

The CD-ROM is awesome, of course! The diagnostic test is cool to do on the computer and it comes with a personalized Study Plan. You can take lessons, play games, review flashcards, compare your scores with colleges, take practice Verbal and Math tests, or take five full length practice tests on the CD!

When I first took the diagnostic test, I got a score of 520. Not good. But when I finished reading the book and explored the CD-ROM, in less than two months, I raised my score to 740! Now that's good. More than 200 points!

If you can only buy one study guide, buy this one! It's all you'll need to score high!

Summary: Amazing! Get this book immediately!!
Review: This book WALKS you through everything from breathing techniques, to the most common vocab words on the SAT, to what to wear on the day of the SAT. I was very impressed with this book, I would recommend it to ANYONE. It raised at least 300 points!

Summary: The Real Deal
Review: This comprehensive review details everything to help prepare you for the SAT. It upped my score from a 1370 to a 1470!

Summary: I am so glad I chose this!
Review: This Kaplan prep is actually pretty good. Its vocab list, for some reason I don't know of--maybe design, just attracted me to study it (However, I only studied the first 1500 or so words before the test was up).

Unfortunately this Kaplan book lacks practice problems. If you buy the CD, fine, but don't be surprised to see that some of those problems appeared on the book itself and/or on the Kaplan Verbal Workbook (truly recommended by me). The games are poorly designed and boring, and the college SAT score charts are OUTDATED (Harvard doesn't have early 1400's as their averages anymore!).

Anyway, this Kaplan guide is just any other guide for the SAT. I don't really have a preference over it or the Princeton Review, but the PR CD is MUCH worse than the Kaplan one......The Kaplan CD is well made although the games are boring as I said above. One of the best SAT prep guides I recommend is Dr. Gruber's guide. It's cheap, thick, and useful...10 Real SATs is good too, but having done the tests 3 times like I have, you get 1550+ everytime, but I took the test in April and still got 1430 as I've got last year.
