Rating: Summary: A Good Overview Review: Scholars interested in brushing up on analyzing qualitative date will benefit from the insights offered by Miles and Huberman. Those seeking to enter this field of inquiry will also be a primary audience for their offering. In this book they present a broad overview of the methody of analyzing data collected in qualitative research. On the subject of presenting findings, they are to be commended for explaining the value of the use of a matrix. It is a means of clarifying data for academic audiences. Designing a matrix is an act of creativity. In my opinion they go too far in arguing for the generalization of of results. They sound too much like quantitative researchers. Qualitative and quantitative inquirers have different objectives. There should be no reason to argue for similarities when these differences exist for good reason, i.e., the research questions are framed differently. Different results should be expected. Each method has its set of strenghts and weaknesses. That's why one method compliments the other. Generally speaking, however, this is a worthwhile book that explains what it seeks to explain in a comprehensive way.
