Rating: Summary: Best of the Series Review: After taking a commercial prep course and using this series of books, I've realized that Examkrackers materials are far superior to the commerically available ones. The conceptual background is strong enought that these books could be used alone to even learn the material. The 30 minute practice tests at the end of each chapter are comparable in diffficulty and style to the real thing, even with a scale.
Rating: Summary: Super MCAT prep materials!! Review: I have examined several (Kaplan, Wiley, Princeton Review) MCAT prep materials and have found Jon Orsay's MCAT books the best out there..what I needed were books that weren't repeating the textbook's explanations, but were actually providing and clear, accurate simplification of the concepts needed to improve on the MCAT and at the same time giving time saving pointers on what is really important for the test, and what is not. After reading Jon's prep materials and working the problems, I can say unambivalently that these materials are super!
Rating: Summary: Re: The best MCAT Biology review out there Review: I was enrolled in the Princeton Review Course during this summer in order to take the MCAT in August, while the physical sciences were very well covered by the Princeton Review themselves, the Biology portion on the other hand was way overblown. They had over 300 pages of Biology Facts and Materials of which the majority is not even tested on the MCAT. So, when I ordered the Examkrakers Biology book I was much relieved to see that the info is condensed into half the pages and it was also written in a much easy to read and friendly manner. They emphasized matering the basics which can be used to answer the more complex facts tested on the MCAT. I just took my MCAT and I have to say that this book helped a lot.
Rating: Summary: The end of your search for quality MCAT books! Review: Johnathan Orsay has mastered the material for the MCAT in these books... if you have only looked at the Bio review book, look for the others! He takes out all the junk and focuses on the core material required for the exam. Compared to Kaplan books, these are much more clear and concentrated on what is IMPORTANT for the MCAT!
Rating: Summary: No need for any other books!! Review: The complete set of MCAT prep books written by Jon Orsay are absolutely fundamental in order to feel confident on exam day. No other book gives you exactly what to know and nothing more! Taking the course along with the books is definitely more reassuring, but the books themselves are phenomenal and will help anyone at any level achieve a better MCAT score. I would strongly recommend using this set of books for your preperation for what is a very challenging exam.
Rating: Summary: Far beyond Kaplen! Review: The Examkrackers' MCAT review subjects are absolutely fabulous!! In comparing the Kaplen review with the Examkracker review, subject by subject, I'd give Examkrackers an A+ and Kaplen a B-. I can't stress Examkrackers superiority enough! Extremely thorough! In addition, font and color variations in the Examkrackers books are used to emphasize the most important material. It also helps to break up the monotonous task of reviewing... My only complaint is with the "1001 questions..." volumes. While EK's pick the toughest stand-alone questions, there are no passage-based questions in the "1001 questions..." series. However, EK's naturally includes passage-based questions in the subject review volumes... I have both the Biology and Organic Chemistry volumes (along with the 1001 questions for each), and both far exceed Kaplen!

Rating: Summary: Must have to understand and do well on the MCAT. Review: This book gives you all the information you need for the MCAT and then some for background information. The book helps you prepare very well and the background information helps you understand those dense passages that are just testing simple science. Just having taken the MCAT 4-20-02, this book definitely helped me decipher those dense passages on the biological sciences section.
