Rating: Summary: Read This Book - Truly a Rare Gem! Review: A brilliant and captivating insight into the lives of the great masters of ancient India. Not only did these great masters such as Babaji, Siddha Agastyar, and Swami Ramalinga attain various siddhas and enlightenment through Kriya yoga, they were able to transform their physical bodies into pure light bodies. If you would like to study further into the teachings of these great masters, get The One Minute Guide to Prosperity and Enlightenment by Sri Siva. The author, Sri Siva, is a reincarnation of both Siddha Agastyar and Swami Ramalinga, and he teaches manifestation and spiritual techniques through the use of mantras.
Rating: Summary: Priceless Knowledge for Seekers of Truth Review: After having read Autobiography of a Yogi, I felt eager for more information on the ultimate source of this Yoga lineage. While I was interested in taking the Kriya Yoga path I could not do so unless I knew the whole story. I believe I found it in the book Babaji & the 18 Siddhas. The author not only provides details of the lives and accomplishments of these masters of Yoga. He also grounds their existence into the historical and geographical context of ancient India. It helps us to connect more easily with this little known lineage of Yoga masters. Finally the book is also very practical in giving us the great lines of the various techniques offered to achieve not only spiritual enlightenment but also physical immortality. Yes the promises seem too good to be true. Yet the author writes in a factual and knowing manner. While it remains for each of us to decide whether this is truth or not,no one who is serious in their search for enlightenment thru the Yoga way should be without this book.
Rating: Summary: BABA JI Review: First thing first. Babaji do not live near Badri Nath. We have seen many westereners looking for Babaji and runnig around like crazy and shouting Babaji, Babaji as if he lives in some cave or house. This is totatly misleading that this person was tought by Babaji. Govindan may be a very good man, but here it is a WHITE LIE. I suggest that he takes this inofrmation out of the book that Babaji lives near Badrinath and save people from becoming crazy. I have lived in thoe mountains for very long time and I know almost all the saints, Sadhus, swamis and Yogis. Swami Arun
Rating: Summary: A must for those interested in Babaji Review: For me, the most interesting chapters were about Babaji's life story and work. It also talks about the lineage that Babaji comes from. This is a very informative book. Once you've read Autobiography of a Yogi and have been introduced to Babaji, you will really appreciate reading this book and getting to know more about him.
Rating: Summary: A Waste of Your Time and Money Review: I cannot even call Marshall Govindan the "author" of this book. It is all common knowledge New Age junk pasted together with a little commentary or sometimes none at all. SAA Ramaiah, Mr. Govindan's primary source of information, is a perennial laughingstock in authentic Kriya Yoga circles. This is largely due to the man's own folly. For example, placing a drawing of Babaji on his website with his own picture superimposed on it, then claiming that it was an actual photo of himself and Babaji. Another is a supposed "signature" of Babaji. The man is a con artist, and his disciple is ... well, he is the author of this book. The book is about Siddhanta and not about Babaji. It is about the myth of the 18 Tamil Siddhas and Boganathar and Agastyar. People that you are not interested to know. There is also a chapter about Swami Ramalinga. There is nothing in this book that you can't find in the Internet. It is the same old story. The artwork is terrible. It was done by a relative of the author. If you are thinking of buying the book for the artwork, you will be heavily dissapointed. As you may already know by now, the "Kriya yoga" being taught by Marshall Govindan and the Kriya Yoga mentioned by Paramhansa Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi are completely different, without even the slightest trace of similarity. Maybe you have read the Autobiography and want to find more information about Babaji. Govindan's Babaji is not the Babaji that you're curious about. Instead of buying junks, save your money for real treasures like God Talks with Arjuna, Yoganandaji's spiritual commentary on the Gita available from Amazon.com.
Rating: Summary: Caveat Emptor Review: I took the author's kriya yoga course a number of years ago. Later, I was exposed to other versions of the kriya technique that, in my opinion, are far more authentic. And I found the course a disappointment. I also found the book disappointing, but it depends on what you're looking for. If it's the kriya technique you want, skip this book. It's not taught in here. If you're interested in reading about Babaji beyond what's in Autobiography of A Yogi, this might be interesting for you. I don't doubt the author's integrity or sincerity, I just question the accuracy and purity of his material. Probably the most authentic kriya available is via the ashram founded by Paramahansa Hariharananda, a disciple of Yogananda. Hariharananda trained a number of disciples to initiate people into authentic kriya yoga. Which doesn't mean other methods aren't valid, but I believe Hariharananda's version is the real deal. If you're deeply interested in learning kriya yoga, investigate Hariharananda's disciples and skip this book for now. The author has no authentic lineage that I'm aware of, if memory serves he claims he learned kriya straight from Babaji, and while he's a nice man with good intentions, there are better uses for your money.
Rating: Summary: A must for all devotees of Babaji Review: If you feel attracted to Babaji, this book is for you. You will learn about Him and His backgrounds. You will also learn about the Siddhas of the South of India. Babaji is here to stay, is spite of the darkness around.
Rating: Summary: Babaji and the 18 Siddha Yoga Tradition Review: The book, Babaji and the 18 Siddha Tradition, is of the kind that inspires on several levels. It inspires through the wealth of information it provides on some of the great Siddhas and their world vision of love and service. In addition, it includes glorious color prints of Shiva and Murugan and Sri Aurobindo and the 18 Siddhas which are powerful inspirations if one meditates on them. Moreover, I have found that as I have used the book it has become a faithful tool in my sadhana. Due to the Shakti, which must have guided the hand of the author, I am guided to various teachings from the Siddhas whenever I need them. This book is so much more than it appears to be. It is a book which opens us to the possibility of knowing Kriya Babaji and the 18 Siddhas in this world, today.
