Rating: Summary: By far the best book out there for Military Wives!! Review: I have read a number of books written for military wives, and this book is by far the most informative!! I learned things that weren't even mentioned in any of the other books, such as the numerous services available to military families (including websites and phone numbers!!). Additionally, the author addresses the different services offered for military families of each branch. She brings you through an entire military career, beginning with entry and ending with separation from the military. I frequently use this book as a resource, and my military wife friends are astonished at all the knowledge I have. My husband even learned things he was unaware of after 8 years in the military! A wonderful resource for any military wife or family!

Rating: Summary: Lots of stuff here! Review: I loved this book! There are a lot of "wives" books out there, but this one is the granddaddy (grandmommy?) of them all. Unlike the others, which tend to just cover one area (like deployment) and dwell too much on personal stories that really don't help me, this covers all aspects of military life and gives so many great, practical tips! If you're looking for a lot of facts, go-to places, and wife-to-wife tips, buy it.
Rating: Summary: Lots of stuff here! Review: I started to read this book but in the first couple pages there is alot of wrong information. Reads want to read a book with stuff that can help and I feel this book leads you in the wrong places and does not give you correct views of different military services and branches. I hope this problem gets fixed.
Rating: Summary: Good book for new wives! Review: My husband will be commisioning in a few months and everything about the military was scary to me. But after reading this book I feel more prepared to deal with the new life that I will be facing. Good book!!
Rating: Summary: Informative Review: This author did a lot of research however it is out dated. Some terms now are not the same. For instance like MAC flights is now AMC flights. Little differences like that. I would however recommend this book for a new military spouse b/c it is in depth of all the information you could possibly need as you start your career as a spouse.
Rating: Summary: Good for Beginners Review: This book is a very good resource for those military wives who don't know much about what they have gotten themselves into. It breaks it all down from how to budget to what to wear at a tea. It caters to all branches of the armed forces, not just the Navy as other reviewers have noted. It is definitely a good starter book. Pick this one up but keep in mind that it is a good idea to check out more than just one resource when you are trying to find accurate information.
I'd recommend this book to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Informative, but Lacking Review: This book is well researched and can serve as a wonderful reference for women who don't understand the military. However, it is not so great with personal things. I bought the book believing it would help me to "cope" with deployments, and the rigors of life in the military. It had very little as far coping methods, it was mostly a text book portrait of military life. Also, I don't think I will buy a book written by an officers wife again, just because I have trouble believing that an officers wife can really instruct an enlisted wife how to deal, especially in the budget aspect. Living on 20,000/yr is a lot different than living on 40,000/year... as is living in officers housing vs. enlisted. The military treats us different, so there is no way I beleive that I understand officer life anymore than officers understand enlisted life. Overall, this book is a great reference. However, it needs to be supplimented with a book about how to deal with things as well. I am now off to find that book.
