Summary: Informative and well written
Review:
I bought this book for my mother who's always falling for scams online and over the phone. I hope she reads it. I did and it really opened my eyes to the ways in which our privacy is being violated.

It looks like someone is trying to sabotage this book by writing bad reviews under different names.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Must Read!

Summary: Prying Eyes
Review: A friend in the internet security industry lent me this book. Yes, it may be a bit comprehensive, but that's also where it value lies. Prying Eyes works just as well as a reference guide as it does an interesting read. It's one to keep around the house.

Summary: Straightforward and Practical
Review: As a victim of identity theft via mail fraud, I was in great need of a resource to assist me, as I strive to secure my identity and avoid common privacy pitfalls in the future. Fortunately for me, I found Eric Gertler's PRYING EYES -- a solution oriented guide that provides real world examples, useful facts, and clear steps to protect one's personal privacy from unwanted intrusions. For anyone who has ever purchased anything on the Internet, received credit card applications in the mail or been contacted by telemarketers, PRYING EYES is a must-read. I strongly recommend this title as an essential navigation tool in today's highly connected world.

Summary: Watching Your Every Move
Review: Gertler insightfully illustrates how the government, marketing companies, and even doctors keep tabs on the public in an almost Orwellian manner. 'Prying Eyes' is essential reading for anyone interested in protecting his or her privacy in this information age.

Summary: dense and incomprehensible
Review: Mr. Gertler might know something about privacy issues but his writing is so difficult to follow it's hard to glean anything helpful. I found myself glazing over while trying to read. I definitely do NOT recommend this book. In fact I do not understand how he got any positive reviews. They must be friends or family.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An Essential Read
Review: Prying Eyes is an essential read for anyone with a computer, a cell phone, a credit card, or a mailbox. Gertler alerts the reader to the very real risks of life in the information age, while contintually offering suggestions for how you can protect yourself. He covers topics that reach far beyond those normally associated with identity theft, like privacy in the workplace, the confidentiality of medical records, and the ways we all allow our homes to be invaded every day. Yet, Gertler offers these sobering facts without becoming hysterical. Serving as more than just a warning, Prying Eyes offers its readers tools to protect their privacy, while still allowing them to profit from all that technology has to offer.
