Rating: Summary: Historic Review: A truly historical book highlighted by the full text of President Bush's remarkable September 20, 2001 speech initiating the war on terror.
P.S. Hey "jimmythejetplane" from New Mexico: Before calling anyone the "stupidest human," learn to spell. It's PRESIDENT, not "presedent." And don't wait until November to move to Canada. Leave now, if you can find it.
Rating: Summary: four more years Review: George W. Bush will live to be one of the greatest presidents that ever served our country. "We Will Prevail" is an excellent compendium of Bush's speeches from September 11th until his Memorial Day speech in 2003. If you haven't paid close attention to the great number of speeches he has given, then this book is a must. My views of Bush's actions and plans completely changed after reading his speeches in which he gave his reasons for his actions and future plans. His main concern has always been for our great country and without his leadership, terrorist attacks might have reached greater limits. Bush rallies the United States and other nations against these terrorist enemies. Much praise as well should be given to every single organization involved in helping out on 9/11 such as the NYPD, FDNY, and the millions of soldiers who are fighting to protect our country right now. Throughout reading this collection of speeches, one can only praise the heartfelt passion of Bush which led to his courageous fearlessness. Throughout all of his speeches, one can only feel his desire for our nation's freedom. Yes September 11th changed everything, but it also changed the Bush presidency. It allowed us Americans to realize the reason why Bush was elected. He is a leader. He was born a leader. He will die as a leader. After 9/11, his country was in crisis. George W. Bush himself saw his way of communicating as inadequate. After reading this collection, I see Bush as one of the greatest speakers in our era. I don't want to give any spoilers, but his State of the Union Address on January 28th, 2003, proves how important his intelligence was. All I can say is imagine yourself in his shoes, would you be able to deal with all of the issues after 9/11. Would you have what it takes to keep our nation strong? This collection of his speeches will display his intelligence and leadership qualities which you will realize that our country is in the hands of an amazing leader.
Rating: Summary: Bush will save us all. Review: I picked up this book in a Borders a couple months ago. At first i laughed, and then I cried. How can anyone read this book and not vomit immediatly????? I didn't even know he could write! George W. Bush is the worst presedent America had ever had, and he is bringing the US into fictitious wars and blood for oil, and raping our country. I'm sorry to all you conservative republican Bush-Lovers, but why would anyone read a book on how the stupidest human (not to mention written by the stupidest human) in the whole world is costing us a billion dollar war for no good reason, that, I, and all my friends will have to pay for when we pay taxes. Do you know how many inocent civillians that our, "great troops" have murdered for no reason whatsoever????? Thousands, thats how many. Is he, (Bush), proud of that? I though America is supposed to be the "land of the free", not the land of the murderers. We have been in Iraq for over a year and done nothing but ruin their country as well as ours, and kill mothers, and babies, and children, and fathers, and hardly any "terrorists". Shame on you, George, shame on you! If he wins in November, I just might have to move to Canada. Please don't buy this book, just put on CNN and look at how this man has destroyed our country. Or watch Bowling For Columbine or something. Don't waste your money. If I could, i would give this book no stars.
Rating: Summary: Words of Our President Review: Sorry you had to read the liberal review written before this one. This book has been recommended on talk radio stations, and by other conservatives who truly love this country and support our president. We had years of trash and self-adulation from Clinton. All arrows pointed to him. Maybe the previous reviewer forgot what a truly moral and courageous man is like. President Bush cares what happens to this country and wants to stop terrorism before it creeps to our shores again. Highly recommended. Great reading. Check out the book by Ann Coulter for more info on how liberals think.
Rating: Summary: Leader Of Hell. Review: The Bush Administration is a system of lies. We are going to be taken through living hell in the next 4 years. Thanks too all you idiots who got satan elected.
Rating: Summary: Nice speeches, but can also be found online! Review: This book is a collection of excerpts from George W. Bush's speeches given from September 11, 2001 until early 2004. Some people will find many of the speeches are quite inspiring. Since they are presidential speeches, they are also available in their entirety on the White House website www.whitehouse.govThe editors of this book have shortened many of the speeches: whenever you see an ellipsis (i.e three dots like "...") it means some words have been cut out. Many of the speeches have been cut this way, and the cuts are not always beneficial. Sometimes what is cut is where Bush ad-libbed, so the words in this book are closer to what the speech writer wrote than what Bush delivered. Actually, that's kind of ironic: since the speeches are mostly written by people like Karen Hughes and Peggy Noonan, often Bush's biggest contribution to the speech is the ad-libbing he does at the time he delivers the speech. So the decision to cut some of the ad-libs removes a big part of Bush's contribution. It can be argued that the ad-libs distract from the flow of thoughts in the speech since the ad-libs are usually put in to connect with the audience and boost the city or state, or comment on the weather or sports something. The counter argument would be that the speeches mostly appeal to emotion, so there's not much flow of thought to distract from, and as the ad-libs are Bush's major contribution, they should be left in. I think the reader should decide. One question I have about this book is: who actually receives the royalties on sales of the book? It appears that the book was published by the staff of the National Review magazine, and it's advertised on the nationalreview.com website that way. But the cover of the book makes it appear as if George W. Bush were the author and as if it were his decision to publish the speeches and edit them that way. I don't think that's the case. Anyone or his grandmother could publish a book of Presidential speeches because the speeches are written by White House employees whose salaries are paid by our taxes, so they are all in the public domain. This isn't necessarily so for election campaign speeches, because those writers may not be government employees, so your favorite election speeches may not appear in this book. Getting back to the question of who chose to publish this book, and who gets the money from its sales, I think it's National Review Magazine, not George W. Bush, despite the appearance of the cover. I'm not claiming Bush would not have wanted this book published; I'm just saying that I don't think he had anything to do with the editing decisions that shorten the speeches, and the money from the book sales goes to other people, not the Bushes. In summary, if you're looking for a book of pResident George W. Bush's official speeches, and you don't mind having them shortened, and having some of Bush's original contributions edited out, then by all means buy this book.

Rating: Summary: Good case study in deception Review: This book is a good reference for those who want to refer to the text of George Bush's speeches.
Now that the truth about the real Bush administration agenda is coming out (to control the Middle East in cooperation with Israel and Saudi Arabia) I was able to refer back to the speeches and see all of the phrases that were included in order get the American people to accept and support their agenda, in an indirect, subliminal way. The neocons are masters of manipulating the public, and this book shows some of their best work. In that regard, it is a useful reference for those of us who are well informed and do not want to be deceived by nice-sounding political rhetoric. Once you know what they're really trying accomplish behind the scenes, you can read these speeches and see how well they use carefully-worded phrases designed to tie into common American experiences and make an emotion appeal that gets people to support their agenda without ever realizing what's happening.
To appreciate this and see what is really going on with the Iraq war and the "war on terror" you need to understand the Project for the New American Century (PNAC). This right-wing group has been advocating US conquest of the Middle East (beginning with Iraq) for over 10 years. The members of the group are familiar Bush administration names: Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Pearle, Bolton, Armitiage, Abrams, Libby, Feith, Woolsey, and more. In 1996 Pearle, Feith and others urged the overthrow of Iraq and the creation of a "New Middle East" in their paper "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm," written for Israeli leader Netanyahu. Later, in 2000, Wolfowitz, Libby and others wrote that a "catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor" would help bring about the "revolutionary change" they envisioned in the Middle East.
When Bush came to power the PNAC agenda of Middle East conquest became US foreign policy, and the Pentagon "Office of Special Plans" was formed to provide the bogus intelligence needed to support unprovoked ("pre-emptive") invasions. The details of this conspiracy could easily fill a book, but suffice it to say that on 9/11 they got their Pearl Harbor and began moving full-speed ahead with their plan.
In order to get Congress and the American people to support the Iraq war, the Bush/PNAC crew had to mislead the public into believing that the "war on terror" (the legitimate pursuit of Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, who attacked America on 9/11) was equivalent to their New American Century plan to take strategic control of much of the Middle East, starting with Iraq. Sadly, they succeeded in their deception. Bush's speeches serve as case study in how this deception was accomplished.
Unfortunately, as of this writing these speeches are not simply an historical case study. If the Bush/PNAC crew manage to stay in power, they will be just the first chapter in a long and bloody story, one that is very likely to have disastrous consequences for America. For them, Iraq is only the beginning. A senior Pentagon policy official recently said that there are five or six more countries that need "regime change" (not counting America!), and Iran has been identified as the likely next target. We have good reason to listen very closely, with our eyes and ears open, to every speech that they give.
What should make us fear most for the future of America is not the threat of terrorist attacks, it is how effective the Bush/PNAC tactics, including these speeches, have been at misleading a large portion of the American public. It is clear that we do need a serious improvement in the American education system, especially in the area of critical thinking skills.
Rating: Summary: Bush will save us all. Review: This book rocks. I was kicking back at a metallica show when a bunch of people started raving about how terrific this book is. Fortunatly with the low price (once again thinking about the people), I bought a copy and read it in one week. I coudn't put it down. What people don't realize is that the t.v media is a joke and what is said on t.v is 90 % false. Bush will always be the people's president.
Rating: Summary: Words of Strength From a Great President Review: This collection of inspiring speeches from President George W. Bush clearly demonstrates the understanding that he has for our history and the challenges posed by September 11, 2001. This country faces an enemy that President Bush descibed, like Churchill described the Nazis, as one that seeks to throw the world "into the abyss of a new Dark Age." These speeches are an expression of the country's determination and resolve to prevail over the forces of unspeakable horror and evil. It is a fight that we will win with President Bush's leadership. The speeches are classics of American thought that will be read by generations to come. The editors of National Review have done a service to the public with this compilation. Every family should own a copy.
