Summary: The Best By Far
Review: Am a handwriting analysis consultant. I enjoy helping my clients/friends understand themselves and their personal and business acquaintances better through hwa. This book by Sheila Lowe has been invaluable in my career personally and professionally; much needed--too many hwa books available that are not based on sound principles that really WORK; this one does. Surprisingly, it is easy to undertand and enjoyable to read even though the content is comprehensive and somewhat complex; the clear presentation of information and lively graphics help, they are nice additions that keep the reader interested when they really want to know how hwa WORKS. My clients are always amazed at its accuracy. It is also excellent as a reputable reference guide, as well as study guide for those who are really serious about learning, in the 'write' way, more about this amazing field of human understanding. I use Ms. Lowe's computerized program (RI Software) and it is also very accurate and one of the BEST I have ever used; the feedback from clients/friends is positive. "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Handwriting Analysis", I personally feel, is the BEST book about hwa on the shelves! Thank you for reading this review; hope you enjoy the book as much as I have. By My Hand, from New Jersey.

Summary: Best, most comprehensive, accurate & entertaining on hwa
Review: As a professional handwriting analyst, I am often asked to recommend a book on the subject. Until now, I have had trouble finding any one book to suggest to everyone. At last! This book provides the most accurate and comprehensive information on handwriting for the novice or intermediate, and does it so entertainingly that I read the whole book myself (and was surprised to learn a thing or two).

There are many very good handwriting analysis books that are too advanced or too narrow for the beginner. Unfortunately, some of the most readable books on the topic are not comprehensive or are simplistic, and some, such as Bart Baggett's work, strike me and some of my colleagues as inaccurate or misleading in places. The CIGHA is a book I can recommend enthusiastically to teenagers and human resources professionals, to senior citizens and therapists.

Professional handwriting analysts know Sheila Lowe as one of the top analysts in the country, a leader in the field and the publisher of a professional newsletter, but until now, we never realized the extent of her talents as a writer.

Summary: A Framework for understanding handwriting analysis
Review: I just loved this book! I've read other books about graphology and found it hard to put all the pieces together. But Sheila Lowe solved this problem for me by presenting an excellent framework upon which to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of graphology.

The concepts come together well in a way to ensure that you retain the principals of the craft. Her writing style is easy to follow as well as being filled with interesting anecdotes and facts about historical and famous figures. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding more about graphology.

An entertaining and informative read! You will enjoy reading this book!

Summary: Very complete and easy to read
Review: I've read many glowing reviews here and feel like I'm repeating it all. Sheila Lowe's book is an amazing value. The amount of information imparted (in clear and easy to read, even fun language) is worth hundreds of dollars. It's a whole handwriting analysis course. I have also communicated with Sheila Lowe online and I agree it's amazing to have her as a real resource who responds to questions!

This book is very detailed and serious when it should be, and light hearted when it should be. Very well paced, very very full of information. It is the first book I bought on Handwriting Analysis and I return to it over and over, even though I now own over 30 others. This one is a great book.

Summary: beginner in love with this book
Review: More of a complete guide than a complete idiot's guide, this is the best of several books on this subject I've read. The writing is lively and easy to read, yet still covers the gamut of graphology. The book is more geared towards graphology as a career or business than other books are, which may or may not matter to you. Personally, I bypassed these parts since it is only a hobby to me. But it's a bonus if you're that serious about graphology, with lots of info for you.

After renting it at the library, I chose to buy it before I was even done reading it simply because I could see that there was lots of material there that I would want to spend a while absorbing thoroughly and that even then, I would want to keep it for reference. The main benefit I find in handwriting analysis is self-awareness. I notice changes in myself, temporary or permanent better by understanding the signs my writing shows. I have even modified my own writing to project a more desirable image of myself on paper, and more importantly, to help make my personality how I want it to be as opposed to leaving it to chance. I don't think the book included enough information about this, but I'm not complaining. Going through this book, I learned a LOT more and reinforced what I already knew and came up with a list of features to change in my writing. I work on one feature at a time, going on to the next one when the last one has become more or less habit.

Even though few people know the slightest thing about graphology, still, your writing projects an intuitive image about you. Is it messy, ungraceful, and illegible? Or is it harmonious, artistic, and healthy looking, flowing right along the page? So the main benefit I find is for myself. I find that I learn more about others just by watching them and getting to know them, as you can't always get a good handwriting sample, especially in the computer age. As for others, the main thing I use it for is analyzing my friends' handwriting. It's fun!

The main things she stresses throughout the entire book, and rightly so, is that ideal, healthy writing is balanced, and that in analyzing don't look at one sign, but take each sign into the context of the entire sample. Other books are more objective, not judging any characteristic in writing as good or bad, only saying what exactly it means. But she successfully used subjectivity to good use here. This is another reason I think she should have written more about the subject of changing ones handwriting to change themselves-- she makes it very clear what the handwriting looks like. There is a little leeway , but in general she stresses balance and moderation, and gives many bad, "warning" signs that one would want to avoid. Overall, I highly recommend it as the best book on the subject I've ever read, out of several.

Summary: Very detailed ...
Review: Notwithstanding the title ... this book is anything but a quick introduction into handwriting analysis ... As the author says ... "this is not your usual amaze and amuse your friends and neighbours type of handwriting analysis book."

This book is comprehensive, detailed - and requires reading with concentration ...

The author begins with the history and development of Graphology ... She explains why & how Graphology works, the difference between the French 'atomistic' and the German 'gestalt' method of analysing handwriting ... she even tackles the ethics and morality of analysing someone's handwriting ...

Ms. Lowe takes the reader through all the elements of Graphology ... space, margins, baseline, the 3 zones, size, rhythm, connectivity, slant ... etc.

What distinguishes this book, is the depth and information provided. Each handwriting element is explored in detail, accompanied by plenty of illustrations, quick tips and anecdotes.

The author explains how handwriting analysis is a combination of examining each alphabet and stroke as well as viewing the handwriting as a whole as it appears on a sheet of paper, how one element or characteristic of handwriting may be counterbalanced or enhanced by other elements ... The reader is gradually taken from a basic to a finer understanding of handwriting analysis.

A good book. Great value.

Summary: Top beginner/intermediate text
Review: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Handwriting Analysis is a wonderful introductory text to the field. I say introductory because it starts at the very basic level and explains items step by step. On the other hand it is pretty much an intermediate text because of its thoroughness and attention to detail. And yet it is written in a style that is light, easy to read, and easy to understand. One of the problems with trying to learn handwriting analysis is that there are a lot of books that contradict one another in terms of what a particular stroke means. This book's author is a well respected authority in the field and the book contains information that is widely accepted by most schools of handwriting analysis. Lots of good information with no blind alleys and many notes and examples, it is probably the top beginner/intermediate book on the subject out there today.
