Summary: Does that include the title?
Review: "365 Stupidest Things Ever Said 2004 Calendar" must include the title of the calendar -- seing as how there are 366 days in 2004....

Summary: Extremely funny
Review: A very funny calendar. I ran across this after buying the authors' Unusually Stupid Americans and actually wasn't sure what to expect, since this is quotes and not commentary on stupidity. That said, I found myself laughing a great deal at the entries herein. It is a nice hybrid -- quotes from the "usual suspects" if you will (i.e. politicians, celebrities, and so forth) as well as from those not-so-famous; inadevertently humorous newspaper headlines and clips from newspaper stories; extraordinarily funny mistranslations; and more. I have already flipped through many months and can foresee myself laughing my way through the year.

Summary: My 365 Stupidest fix for the year -- yay!
Review: After reading this calendar every day for years you'd think I'd get tired of it. Instead, I can't wait for the next day and the next year. The Petras family is too funny and right up my alley -- how can you be so smart and so dumb all at the same time? They are the best, this calendar is the best. Thanks, you two! And keep it up (please!!!).

Summary: Unfailingly Funny
Review: I have found this calendar consistently hilarious so far. It's not just stupid things that people have said (although that appears to be the bulk of it), but it is also newspaper typos, odd signs, and the like, which, to my mind, is a plus. Personally, I think that the mixture of types of quotes is what keeps it fresh. I never know what to expect from day to day, but am always laughing at the newest quote, whether it's a sportscaster, athlete, peculiar sign, mistranslation, or whatever. This diversity of humor is what makes it unfailingly funny to me and I recommend it.

Summary: TOO funny!
Review: I love this calendar! My fifth year so far buying it, and I still love it!

VERY funny, VERY silly, VERY wonderful as far as I'm concerned!

Some have noted that it's not just things "said" but also printed, and I don't see why this is something to whinge about. If it's funny, it's funny, dammit -- and this fits the bill! There are always a lot of quotes, but also a lot of newspaper and magazine sillies, and it always makes me laugh.

I am a repeat buyer of this calendar and it hasn't failed me yet! More, more, more!

Summary: Just Average Somewhat Lame
Review: I received this calendar as a gift. Some of the items are funny but as previously noted many of the "Things Said" are actually not quotes just typos from newspapers and such; which would be OK if they were funny but many aren't. Today's "page" is a good example of one of the unfunny listings, it reads: "Her Peugeot 406 Estate Collided Head-On with a Fish at the Big Tree Bend, Near Inverkeiler. from the Aberdeen Evening Express."

The best thing about the calendar is that it comes with an on-line code that allows you to one free on-line calendar at the Page-A-Day website. The on-line calendars are exactly the same as the print version in terms of content. You can chose from any of the Page-A-Day calendars not just the one that matches your paper calendar. You can also sample before you select.

Summary: Skip the Zoloft!
Review: If your spirits are in need of a boost, this calendar will supply the daily dose. No serious side-effects; no prescription needed. Laughter really IS the best medicine and it's all provided here thanks to Kathryn and Ross Petras. *****

Summary: not funny
Review: Occasionally the quotes in here are funny, but not very often. Many of them seem to be out of context. This happens often enough that I can't accept the quotes at face value, so it's hard to be amused by them.

There's also a lot of movie quotes from the 50s and 60s. These don't belong in the calendar. Who cares what some fictional character says in an obscure B movie from the 50s? Those quotes are completely artificial. There's nothing stupid or funny about an actor saying their lines. The quotes should be from real people saying something in real life.

Another common type of quote in this calendar are newspaper headlines or typos. Those are funny more often than anything else in the calendar.

The titles for each quote always start with the word "On" followed by a backwards sentence constructed with commas, as in "On Big Brothers, Freaky" or "On Consistency, Clinton Administration And". These titles become annoying, and are really not needed at all.

Sometimes I see quotes in here that are funny, but that doesn't happen often enough. I guess it's mostly an issue of personal taste, because there's apparently a lot of other people on here that like these calendars. But I don't plan to get one again.

Summary: Smart Stupid Humor
Review: Okay, it sounds like an oxymoron, but it's not. This is very funny stuff here, but you need a certain intelligence to get it. All I know is that, unlike what is said to be funny these days, this calendar made me laugh a lot. There's so much scope here: inanities from celebrities (this is an easy one, no?), politicians doing their usual hot air act, and so on. Bottom line: I needed a laugh, and this calendar definitely delivered! I recommend this based on my flip through and am planning to buy some as gifts now. We all need a laugh these days, especially here in New York.
