Summary: The Call to Teach
Review: I was a doctoral student of Dr. Hansen's at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After several courses with him, it is obvious that he shares with his students the deep sense of bonding that takes place between teachers and students and the dedication that transcends financial, professional or other considerations that propel one into education. According ot Dr. Hansen, there are many "calls" that one responds to when selecting education as a career, and all are equally valid and important. Any teacher can easily find his or her own special reason for entering the profession in this book. Dr. Hansen's writing style is easy and conversational, so one can become absorbed in both the message and the language. If a teacher needs to rediscover and reconfirm the significance and joy of teaching, I would highly recommend this book.
