Summary: This book won't prepare you for HOMOPHOBIC PILOTS!
Review: .
Male candidates for this job be forewarned: If you want to be a flight attendant, prepare for a lot of HOMOPHOBIC PILOTS who will harass you!
I've been in the industry for 19 years, 15 years as a flight attendant. Believe me when I tell you that HOMOPHOBIA is rampant within the cockpit!

The airline I work for (a major carrier based in Minneapolis/St. Paul) actually condones the HOMOPHOBIC behavior of it's pilots!

I am currently writing a book about HOMOPHOBIA within the airline industry that will be available here on Amazon, or in the "northwest" corner of your local bookstore early next year.

Think twice before you decide you want to be locked in a metal tube with a HOMOPHOBIC REDNECK PILOT from Alabama!

Summary: A concise, skillfully presented compendium
Review: Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide by 27-year TWA veteran flight attendant Tim Kirkwood is an authoritative and straightforward manual to pursuing a flight attendant career. Included is reliable information regarding the physical and educational requirements; surviving the interview process; seeking jobs on lesser-known regional airlines, charters and corporate flights (which have increased hiring even as the big airlines have made staff cutbacks since the September 11th attacks); a directory of application requirements for all the U.S. and Canadian airlines today, and more. A concise, skillfully presented compendium Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide is a "must-read" for anyone interested in the rewards and opportunities of becoming a professional flight attendant.

Summary: A must-have book for the aspiring Flight Attendant!
Review: I can well remember a time in my life, more than 30 years ago; when vacationing in Rome I saw some very glamorous looking "Stewardesses" in the lobby of my hotel waiting to be assigned rooms. I can remember thinking, "Gee, I want to be a stewardess". As luck would have it, I became one. Well, now that the "Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide" is available, nobody has to leave it to fate. What a terrific book - so much resource information - it's an invaluable guide for the novitiate. If you want to make flying your career, you have GOT to buy Tim's book. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Free updates make this book the best!
Review: I found this book VERY informative, and it answered most of my questions. Whatever questions remained, I was able to ask Mr. Kirkwood directly via the e-mail address he provides at the back of the book. The free update service was the greatest feature. By clicking onto the website link he gives at the end of the listings of hiring requirements, I was able to get the latest changes to the airlines, and even some new ones that aren't in the book! I've had calls for interviews from 6 airlines already. This book is a gem!

Summary: Not worth the money
Review: I ordered all of the books available for flight attendant interviews. This one was the worst. I don't recommend it based on the content as it just wasn't as helpful or nearly as informative as others. Out of all of those I ordered, I'd recommend The Essential Guide To Becoming A Flight Attendant. It contained every question I was asked in my interview and a lot more information.

Summary: I didn't find the book that useful
Review: I recently purchased Tim Kirkwoods Flight Attendants Job Finder and Career Guide. I didn't find the book that useful. First of all, alot of the airport codes are not in the book and the addresses for the airlines that are supposingly hiring are incorrect or no longer in business.I feel that I really didn't gain by purchasing this book. My advise to anyone thinking of purchasing the book...........maybe you should reconsider.

Summary: Not enough information
Review: I stumbled across this excellent book written by Tim Kirkwood while I was trying to find information on how to improve my chances on becoming a Flight Attendant. I ordered the book online and received it the next day. I read this book from cover to cover three times. It was a great source of information and it reads very easy. I also emailed Tim and he was very helpful. After reading his book I sent a resume to an airline and received back an application. I completed the application, sent it back to the airlines, and within a few days I received a call from them wanting me to come in for an interview. When I arrived for the interview, there were many other applicants present. I was able to shine during that group interview because of Tim Kirkwood's book. After the group interview they selected of few of us for a one-on-one interview. About half way through the interview she stoped me and said, "You know what? You are exactly what we are looking for at this airline". I was hired on the spot and was sent for training three weeks later. Thank you Tim Kirkwood!

Summary: A must-read for those aspiring to become flight attendants!
Review: The Flight Attendant Job Finder and Career Guide, by Tim Kirkwood, is by far the best source for career information on the in-flight service profession. Drawing on his 23 years as a flight attendant, Tim Kirkwood accurately describes every aspect of in-flight service, including what to expect on a typical three-day trip. The Guide also features a directory of all US and Canadian airlines, complete with job requirements and contact information for each company. A must-read for those aspiring to become flight attendants! --Helen E. McLaughlin, author of WALKING ON AIR and FOOTSTEPS IN THE SKY
