Summary: Average software
Review: CAUTION!: This book/CD has EXCACTLY the same CD/software like the "Gre General Cbt Testbuster (Testbuster)". I bought both of them and I wasted my money since I care only for the CD/software. I contains three CATS which is good but it is not even in my top 5 recommendations for the GRE.

Summary: This book is ok, but needs to be supplemented.
Review: I didn't need to use this book for the quantitative parts, just the verbal. The word lists in the book are only a small fraction of what's on the CD. There are at least 800 words on the CD, and you can add more. I supplemented the word list with Word Smart for the GRE, by The Princeton Review.

The dictionary has a cool feature that lets you store the words you have trouble with into your own dictionary. You can add and change definitions in your dictionary as well.

The CD has two games: a crossword puzzle and a word matching game. Each can be used on their dictionary or yours. The crossword puzzle is limited. Although it does create a different puzzle every time, it generally uses the same few 3 letter words over and over. The longer words are more varried.
The matching game is decent. It lists 12 words & definitions, that you must match. It shows the answers at the end, so you know how well you did.

Over all, the book is ok, but I'd recommend getting other resources as well.

Summary: Poor book, software,
Review: Neither the book nor the software is worth the time and money for this combination.

The book includes the long pencil and paper examples one expects for the old pencil and paper test. There are a few updates for the new computer based test; mostly just mentioning what to expect. The entire section on the essay portion of the GRE is four pages followed by thirty pages of general grammer review. The mathematics review is more solid, but there are some mistakes in the text. It is a book that is not updated often.

The same staleness extends to the software. It works, outside of the occasional fatal exception error, but provides little help above the minimum. There are only three practice tests; reviewing your mistakes is torturous; and the practice essays are not timed the same way as the real exam. There is no help in guessing your score on the essay portions.

Overall, the combination of obsolete material and errors reduces the value to less than nothing.
