Rating: Summary: Fabulous book! Review: As an attorney myself who had the rare privilege of working under the expert guidance of Ms. Orin, it is no surprise to me that this book is funny, informative, easy to read, and a terrific reference manual for how to decipher those long, horrendous insurance policies and all the fine print that unfortunately comes with them. This book is and will be a very useful guide for anyone who reads it. I strongly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Grateful reader Review: Great book! Very helpful. It helped me understand how to get the most out of my insurance coverage. The clever anecdotes made normally dry material come alive. After reading it I evaluated my family's coverage and made changes to fit our "profile". And I finally resolved a dispute in my favor!
Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled by the title Review: I bought this book thinking it would help with my insurance company pay my claims they denied (no names, but their initials are Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Georgia). It wasn't helpful in that way. This book seems to focus on people who actually have a choice on picking what insurance they want. It doesn't help the 99.9% of employees who don't have any choice on what insurance plan they're offered. The book clearly explains all the ins and outs of insurance companies, but is little help in "making them pay."
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WAS GREAT! Review: I found Rhonda Orin's book, Making Them Pay a very helpful book. After reading it, I had a clear understanding of how to deal with my health insurance company. What was great about the book, was how funny it was to read. Orin incorporated comics and jokes to help make the book easy to read. It was not one of those books that was very serious and too complicated to be helpful. This book was very clear and easy to read while still being incredibly helpful.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book! Review: Rhonda Orin's advice to readers helped us take our case against our insurance company to the State of California and we prevailed. This book assists readers in navigating the often confusing process of insurance company appeals. But most importantly, she gives readers hope, that if they persist, they can win. Insurance companies hope that people will take "no" for an answer. But with determination, patience and the guidance of this book, people now have another option besides giving up and paying for services out-of-pocket, that should be covered by their health plan. A must-read book for anyone with health insurance who expects to use it someday. Thank you for writing this book!
Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled by the title Review: Rhonda Orin's book on health insurance is very informative as it offers clear, concise advice on how to deal with health insurers. From a reference librarian's perspective possibly the most useful part is the mandatory benefits list of all 50 states. There is also humor in the cartoons and text, always a good way to break the ice when dealing with such an ornery topic. Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: Getting the most is a matter of choice Review: This book helps show that people can understand how the insurance companies work. Then use that to thier advantage.
Rating: Summary: practical and funny Review: This how-to is blessed with two cardinal virtues: it's very, very practical, and very, very funny. For Rhonda Orin, fighting a health insurer over a coverage denial or a short payment seems to be like fox-hunting for an English nobleman: a joy to be studied with relish and pursued at every opportunity. Recalcitrance or feigned incompetence on the part of an insurer only stimulates her to fight harder -- and this book spells out, with a connoisseur's surehandedness, every step in the process of "making them pay." The book is also an excellent guide to choosing an insurance plan, if you're lucky enough to have a choice, and to reading the policy with an eye to hidden costs and hidden exclusions. As for the humor, Ms. Orin writes about insurers as if they're incorrigible children -- children she knows very, very well.
Rating: Summary: MAKING THEM PAY ---is worth the price Review: When dealing with explanation of benefits, there are times when I question my own common sense and ability to confront our insurance company. Rhonda Orin's book, MAKING THEM PAY validates what I often think....insurance rules and regulations border on lunacy. Orin's book is easy to read from cover to cover, and is also a useful reference book. I'll keep it nearby and refer to it when I call to question specific claims.
