Rating: Summary: Takes work, but it's worth it Review: I get tired of self-help books with endless checklists and worksheets. This book has a series of exercises that take a lot of thought, but the author seems like a good friend, talking you through it and sharing the results. Reading her own experiences building a career, then deciding to transition to a whole new field, was an inspiration. The client stories she uses to illustrate the steps of the process were interesting and helpful as well. I have had a coach and wished that there had been a more defined process for getting from "here" to "there". I get the feeling Maggie Craddock asks the right questions and helps her clients find their own answers, without a lot of wasted floundering around. I found this book a valuable tool for my own personal and professional search. A good investment.

Rating: Summary: Zen and the Art of Professional Coaching Review: Ms. Craddock does a brilliant job of taking us through the often painful process of finding ourselves and then bringing the best of ourselves to the workplace. The Authentic Career is about finding and living the authentic self. It brings us back to the things we might have once been told by a well-meaning friend or a self-help lecture; it makes real and fleshes out exactly what we need to do to work through core issues of our identity and find our "true bliss" in the workplace. What better person than Ms. Craddock to show us the way. She went from making million dollar business deals to working with mental patients to try to find her bliss and to bring the fruits of her labors to us, in a very readable, usable form. I have benefitted greatly from reading this book!
