Summary: This book is a great resource
Review: I bought this book to help me get an edge over people in obtaining a pharmaceutical sales job. It definitely helped me in my job search and I couldn't have done it without the book's tips and Anne Clayton's e-mail help line. If you're serious about this career, employ the tips and networking strategies she outlines, they really work! This book is not designed to give you all the answers to questions you'll be asked in interviews, but gives you great examples of what to expect and how to answer, which will prepare you for any interview. Overall, a great resource.

Summary: Must have this resource!
Review: I ordered this book because of success stories on the website www.pharmaceuticalsales.com, and reviews on amazon.com. Everything you need is here! The ideas for networking helped, and I felt totally prepared for the interview. My confidence level was high just knowing that I had the answer to just about anything they could ask me. I was not caught off guard by any question in five interviews except one. And I was able to answer it even though I didn't rehearse it because I had practiced the other questions. The industry information was very valuable and if one reads this book, they will realize why the rep is hired -- to get results in filled prescriptions and doctors commitment. I have recommended this book to a few friends and wanted to write this review to let others know, and to help Anne Clayton because she did so much for me personally in helping me get this job. Thank you Anne!

Summary: The BEST, HELPED ME GET TWO PHARMA JOBS
Review: I used Anne Clayton's book in 2000 and secured a position in the pharmaceutical industry being a new graduate out of college. Anne wrote me numerous emails and coached me through the interview process. Sure, 40 dollars looks high, but how many times is the author going to speak to you by email and coach you through an interview process? I purchased Anne's book again this year, and due to a new drug not being approved our company was downsizing. WOW, the book has grown over the years, again Anne helped me get up to speed for my interviews, and I am earning a base salary of over 12K more than my old company.
THIS IS THE GOLD STANDARD OF PHARMACEUTICAL BOOKS.

Summary: Anne is the best
Review: This book is simply the best written (and the first). I worked with Anne at Burroughs Wellcome in the 70's and she was a top performer not only as a representative but a sales manager.
Anne has written this book from the viewpoint of being a manager, both district, and regional. Her contacts of working nearly thirty years in the industry keeps her well informed. This is one sharp lady! This is the information candidates need to know, and I recommend it to many who are trying to enter the industry.

Summary: It changed my perception.
Review: This is a book that is right on target for sales professionals and the rest of us.

I am not a sales person, though I have been a network systems consultant to many different business organizations. When I began working with Anne Clayton as an editor my technical background was helpful and applicable to earning customer satisfaction, which brings successful selling.

However, I had no idea that the knowledge and responsibilities of a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative may affect my own health care.

Not only does this book teach the novice how to research, network, and start a career in Pharmaceutical sales, but it also reveals the complete sales process. Therefore, when I went to the doctor after having read this book, I heard a rep teaching (selling) a doctor medications for renal care (kidneys) and diabetes. I watched him interact with the office staff, and realized that he was following the "how to" steps from "Insight into a Career in Pharmaceutical Sales" to the letter.

I also learned that when my doctor suggests a new medication it is because he has been given up to date information about the products, tests, possible side effects, what it does and does not treat, and samples from a representative of the manufacturing company. This knowledge base may also be available in medical journals and articles from the FDA, but since these professional sales people do not focus on every medication, they will know a great deal about the ones they sell.

This book will outline the steps to sales success, and provide insights that are not available from other sources...
