Rating: Summary: Great read. Review: "Don't Retire, Rewire," prepares the prospective retiree to think critically about retirement before actually entering into it. Retirement is often not what people expect. This well-written book drives home the point that people approaching retirement age need to understand their drivers as they consider their "post-professional" life. The case study approach is helpful, too. I highly recommmend this book.

Rating: Summary: Don't Retire, Rewire! Review: Don't Retire, Rewire! is a solid read for anyone concerned with their future. Sedlar & Miners helps identify the motivators we each have that propel us in our lives and careers. That's good information for anyone concerned with moving ahead successfully and being happy with our choices. Even though I'm many years away from retirement, Don't Retire, Rewire! helped me take a closer look at my career today, identify the "drivers" that motivate me, and better prepared me for the transition to retirement down the road. A book worth reading more than once- a good checklist of questions to ask ourselves throughout our careers.
Rating: Summary: Positive Advice Review: I have been looking for a book to guide me and my husband thru the process of retirement, which will shortly be upon us. Don't Retire, Rewire! is a great guide with a lot of thought provoking questions. We both read the book and sat down and to talk about what we learned. We came to the conclusion independently that we want to continue to work in some fashion. Without this book, I don't think we would have the confidence we need to chart our new course. Sedlar & Miners have a unique perspective on planning and executing a retirement plan. I have bought a copy of the book for my sister and brother. It should be on every pre retirees required reading list. It is a great resource of information as well. Reading it saved us a lot of stress and needless worry.
Rating: Summary: Finally, Some Hands-On Advice for ex-CEO's Review: I'm 48 and a former CEO of a large real estate information company based in New Jersey. Last year I voluntarily gave up my CEO title -- and all of its day-to-day responsibilities -- and assumed the role of Chairman. I did NOT realize what a huge role difference this would be and the impact it would have on me. Stripped of a large part of my "power base" I felt cut adrift, unfocused, at times even desperate. Don't Retire, REWIRE has been a beacon of light for me, providing a clear framework for mapping out the second half of my life. This is material that I've been searching a long time for, a book that helped shift my thinking from income statements and balance sheets to life's core benchmarks -- those soulful areas such as following my passions, developing my skills, and pursuing my dreams. The most valuable part of the book for me lay in the case studies of how real people faced the challenge of life's transitions. It sparked dozens of ideas which I narrowed down to one very fulfilling direction that I'm exploring now. Read REWIRE -- but then USE it and FOLLOW it. It could be life-changing for you, too.
Rating: Summary: Build on your past; envision your future Review: Sedlar and Miners guide the reader through invaluable self-assessment, visioning, and planning exercises to develop a richer, more nuanced, and more personal approach to retirement. The book is written in a clear and accessible style and is like having a series of meetings with a lively, experienced, and wise career counselor or coach. Sedlar and Miners are masters at asking the right questions and encouraging the reader to do likewise. The authors are very savvy about the world of work and workplace trends. They have a better grasp of how work fits into our lives - both the realities and the possibilities - than many other experts. By modeling a flexible, practical, and humanistic approach to retirement, Sedlar and Miners have provided a valuable resource for helping us grow into our futures.
Rating: Summary: Excellent-informative-educational and an interesting read Review: This book is worth it's weight in gold! It is inspiring, informative and full of tips and techniques for the person either in transition or thinking of their next step in life. Once you start reading-you're engaged and learning practical tips and techniques all the way through. This book is a real keeper!
