Rating: Summary: A Must Read If Your Serious About Getting into a Top 10 Review: Even though I do not plan to apply to b-school for another year, this book will be by my side through the entire application process. Scott and Omari lay out an exact plan of how to craft your application in order to gain acceptance to your dream school. The book is easy to read and gives the insights of 2 guys who have been through the process and successfully completed an MBA at a top institution. I never thought an MBA admissions book would be one I couldn't put down. I have no doubt this book will take my application to the next level and I recommend it to anyone serious about applying to a top MBA program.
Rating: Summary: Informative and Concise Review: Great book, tells you how to tackle the application process for the best MBA programs without overwhelming you with info. Gives you the correct approach depending on the target school thus maximizing your chances of admission. It made me feel more confident about my applications. Would recommend it to anybody!
Rating: Summary: Incredibly Helpful and Informative Review: I am applying to business school this fall, and just got this book a week ago after hearing about it. I have already read it most of the way through, and I can say that it is DEFINITELY worth it. I have also read How to Get Into the Top MBA Programs and I can say that this book helps you at least as much as that one, in less than half the length. I actually consider that one to be good, but this one to be even better.I really like how the authors describe a framework for getting your story together. I wonder if everyone will follow their advice to the letter, but I think they would benefit by doing so. The authors start by describing their framework, and then step through each part of it throughout the rest of the book. Like I mentioned, I have read nearly the whole thing (which I couldn't do with the other books I bought). My favorite aspects of this book: 1) Advice on specific schools - Not everything that they tell you about a school is earth-shattering, but it's all good info. This is important info to consider when you apply to any school. A friend of mine at a Top 10 school read what they wrote about her school and agreed with what they said. 2) Interview prep - All of my target schools require interviews, and I really like the framework that they use in this section to help you prepare for the kinds of questions you will probably be asked. 3) Advice for applicants based on their backrounds - This section is fairly short, but still contains good advice to think about as you write your essays, etc. 4) Essay analysis and advice - Other books also do this, but this book does a good job of breaking down essays by type and letting you know what schools tend to look for. They also give good general advice like making sure that you and your recommenders are on the same page in terms of what to emphasize, etc. And the GMAT section looks like it has good advice, although that's the one section that I sort of skipped, since I already took the test. My only suggestions for improvement would be to expand the section that gives advice by type of applicant. And, they give advice for the top 30 schools, but not everyone is targeting those schools. So, maybe covering the top 50 would be better, although that of course would make it a lot longer. All in all, definitely worth picking up, especially if you want a smaller book that gives you the same advice that the bigger, more expensive ones give. These guys seem to know their stuff.
Rating: Summary: Must Have!! Review: I believe this is one of the books if you are naive about b-school process to read before you start your journey. I read it and did what it said and + my desire got into several top 10 programs. They were always there to also answer questions too inspite of their busy b-school schedule. Guys Keep up the book work.
Rating: Summary: It Works!! Review: I can tell you from experience: This book works! I have been admitted to Haas and Stanford for the Class of 2006, thanks in large part to this book. Before I bought the book I had no idea of how involved the application process is. I definitely underestimated how structured my application needed to be. But this book was the "kick in the pants" that I needed to realize that one needs more than a high GMAT score. Probably the most valuable part for me was the section on recommendations. Give yourself PLENTY of time to get those taken care of, and expect to go through some re-writes with your recommender. When your recommenders don't appreciate how important this stuff is, you need to give them a ton of guidance. This section alone made the book worth it. I can't compare this to other books since this is the only one that I bought (in addition to the Official GMAT Guide), but I can say without a doubt that it works!
Rating: Summary: I'm glad that I have this book! Review: I decided to apply to business school pretty late in the game. Knowing that I had a lot of work to do, I did a lot of research into which books and resources were on the market. After looking around and talking to people, I decided to give this book a shot. IT HAS LIVED UP TO ITS REPUTATION! It is very complete, covering everything about the application process. It covers essays and recommendations like all of the books, but also covers smaller (important) details, like how to set up your resume and when you should consider taking a GMAT class. I have not had to rely on the section about each of the top schools as much, but the advice in there is also really valuable. And the book is very easy to read. It is not a large phone book, like some of the others out there. All in all, you will also be glad that you bought this book!
Rating: Summary: The best of the bunch Review: I looked at almost every book on getting into a top MBA program, and have bought at least 4 or 5. Out of all of those I found this book to be the most helpful by far. I found the essay writing advice to be more accessible and easier to apply than others, I thought their analysis of the particular problems faced by different types of candidates was useful, and I thought their insights into the admissions process were valuable. Other books have more school-specific information, but for the general stuff there is no book that is better.

Rating: Summary: Key Differentiators Review: This book, unlike most others in this area, describes the strengths and general foci of top programs. So, it allows applicants to align their applications to their target schools more effectively. MBA programs are looking for good "stories" that applicants must create to prove why they're applying to that particular program and not to another. Gathering such background information is often very time consuming. Scott Shrum provides all this is one place and gives good tips to address the particular focus areas of each school.
Rating: Summary: Good complement to Montauk's book Review: This is a comprehensive guide for getting into the top business schools. It contains a number of pointers not usually found in other books that cover business schools and it assists you in devising your business school application strategy. I used this book along with Montauk's tome and I was admitted to Wharton and Tuck, waitlisted at Yale and Stanford. This book is a good complement to the Montauk volume.
